I've heard people make snide comments about older folks with Corvettes or other sporty cars. Shit like "senior acting like a teenager" or just "mid-life crisis car." I've been the target of such comments when I owned a Z4. If I bother to reply, it's to explain that the reason folks who own these cars are older is often because it's the first time in their lives that they've had the discretionary funds to buy such a car. Usually a high salary at the end of a career, kids are gone and through college, house is paid up, etc. Now it's time to enjoy the fruits of decades spent working your butt off to get to this point.

Maybe not so old. I’m at the doctor’s office. They asked the woman in front of me her date of birth. She says ‘61. I almost fell over. She looked old enough to be my mother instead of 2 years older than me. I feel pretty good right now. Happy Friday!

If you go to high school reunions the same thing can happen. I've got classmates that look more like parents than classmates. It's amazing how different we can all age.

While there is no evidence to support it, I am pretty certain that driving BMWs makes us all look younger.

That’s my son’s name. He’s 36 now and lives out of state.

About a year later, I was fortunate to watch the New Christy Minstrels perform at the EM club at our base camp near Cu Chi, Vietnam, 1969. I was rarely at our base camp, so really lucked out on that one. One night of hot meals, a beer and great entertainment. Flew on a UH-1 back to our field camp the next day. The venue change was dramatic. Back to the sandbags and ringworm and...

You know you're old if you remember when the Christmas season started after Thanksgiving, not Labor Day. Wifey and I ate at a restaurant today that was playing traditional Christmas carols. And the McMansion neighborhood across that way is all lit up for Christmas. I mean, WTF? We're nearly 2 months from Christmas.

Yes, and you know you’re old if you remember when we celebrated Christmas and not the “holiday” season. I don’t mean to be harsh, but regardless of what your faith is or isn’t the reason we have this “holiday” season is the untold years of tradition celebrating Christmas. I guess it could be said it appears everyone who isn’t Christian now wants to “culturally appropriate” Christmas. (sorry for that little political commentary)

I turned 65 last month, working part time since last November, best thing I could have done because I was ready to retire. I went from being the Mechanical Engineering Manager to just a part time staff ME with money to blow on random shit.

Not much hard labor involved.
