It's hard to spot some of this with the camo shots, but if you put them side by side with some m240i press shots at the same angles the differences stand out.

G87 M2
I am a bit slow to embrace the new looks of these M cars, and I don't consider myself terribly stuck in my ways either. It's just not what I aspired to when I set my goal of buying one, and it's why I grabbed one of the F87's before production stopped. I feel like I have the optionality to stick with the current, which I am very very happy with, or opt to the other as the last of the combustible engines leaves the assembly line. When I consider the looks, it's just not there for me. I feel like Chris Bangle has snuck back into the building or something - just a bit too much too quickly. I definitely can appreciate the improved performance of the newer models though, which would be a reason to upgrade, but I think I found a sweet spot between analog and high tech (and to each their own respectfully). On a comical note, one thing I've always wondered was, if any fights ever break out at BMW HQ between the engineers and the design teams? I'd like to know if any one of the folks responsible for making the S58 engine has gone over to a designer and punched them square in the nuts?

BMW is too pussy to make a proper sports car with dct, while the econobox brand Toyota supra grmn is pushing for s58+dct combo. Shame.

I'm definitely a fan of the front vs the 240i.
I'm curious how the Utah-shaped front vents look unwrapped vs the 240i's triangles. I just came to the conclusion that I like the horizontal grille slats more than the 240i's wavy vertical ones. |

Assuming no colossal fuck ups this will likely be my next vehicle.
Any idea when orders will open up? Will it be before December?

Production starts in December so yes. Honestly if you're playing on getting the first batch, your best bet is to start talking to dealers soon.

So will the new M2 G87 be heavier than the M3/4 G80/82?
Like the last generation? The F87 is heavier, despite marginally smaller dimensions than the F80/82. |

It’s sad not a single M will offer that while Toyota does.

I'm conflicted about this. On one hand, I would really love to see S58 paired with the 7DCT somehow. On the other hand, I don't like how BMW is potentially licensing out S engines to non M, non BMW cars.

So a few takeaways from the article posted by Mani59
- Carbon fiber roof is standard on the competition model....and a carbon fiber package is required on the non-comp. - Optional laser lights - 40% increase in body rigidity over M240 - OLed tail light "graphics" - No plans of xDrive Also seems like that bumper leak from months ago is pretty accurate though these photos show add-ons that make it look more complete. All in all, I'm happy with what I'm seeing. |

Still holding out hope that Idrive 8 is not in the first couple of years but I know its almost for sure. Why do these articles keep saying 400hp Non Comp 430hp comp. That cannot be right. |
