Lastly, it’s also a class delta (burning metal) fire for which water is NOT a good extinguishing agent. Combine those factors and consider the risk if owning/charging an EV indoors is a good idea.
This Firefighter neglected to mention the extremely toxic out gassing.

I'm sure that more than a few ICE cars have conked out on bridges. So if I take your lead here the moral of the story is EV's can be just as unreliable as ICE cars.
Yeah Carvana sucks for sure and I'm not really surprised by their actions.

I have a couple firefighter friends plus a family member that owns an insurance brokerage firm. EV fires are definitely a relatively new consideration when it comes to handling a fire indoors and outdoors and property insurance costs. Fire trucks and procedures are constantly being upgraded to handle EV fires and at big costs to taxpayers. Insurance premiums will continue to rise as well due to EV fire property loss.

The biggest issues with EV fires are:

1) Duration
2) Intensity
3) Pricey and extensive firefighting control measures (foam, huge amounts of water, fire blankets, SCUBA, etc.)
4) Toxic fumes and heavily contaminated firefighting water that washes onto nearby ground, storm drains, waterways, etc.
5) EV occupant safety do to many EVs using electric door locking mechanisms. There have been many instances of them not releasing in a crash/fire.

Well, why did he buy it in the first place? I've been looking at EV since 2013, and for the past 11 years, every view I've taken of ownership concluded owning an EV makes no sense. However, I will admit I kinda like the Cybertruck (because it's so crazy off the wall), but that's waning for me now.

Time will tell:
Bozo Admin Pumps Hundreds Of Millions Into Buses Prone To Catching Fire
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has made an additional $500 million available to help rebate recipients to transform their school bus fleets from diesel to electric, a round of funding that builds upon an earlier $1 billion made available via the program, the EPA announced Thursday. Several electric buses have caught fire across the country in recent months, a trend mostly attributable to malfunctions in their lithium-ion batteries, according to the Institute for Energy Research.
Electric buses have burst into flames due to battery malfunctions in Wichita, Kansas, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, San Jose, California, and Hamden, Connecticut, since July 2022, according to local reports. The Hamden e-bus fire resulted in a decision to pull the city’s entire e-bus fleet off the roads
Electric school buses cost about $400,000, while diesel school buses cost about $200,000, according to Electrek.

It's so easy to spend tax payer money. Wonder if the tax payers will be around to pay for the replacement batteries.

California's new energy plan forces the wealthy to pay more for electricity
March 13, 2024
"This would be the first state to charge people based on their income rather than what they actually just use," said Shon Hiatt, director of the USC Business of Energy Transition initiative.
"The problem here has been affordability. While California has focused almost completely on clean energy, it has disregarded reliability and affordability, and costs have continued to escalate. So, one of the (ways) they thought to address affordability (was), 'Let's just consider a tax and begin taxing people based on their income to address electricity rates.'"
Households earning $28,000-$69,000 would be charged an extra $20 to $34 per month. Those earning $69,000-$180,000 would pay $51 to $73 per month, and those earning more than $180,000 would pay a $85-to-$128 monthly surcharge.
"This electricity will be clean electricity," Vice President Harris said in January 2023 while dedicating a power line to carry green energy into California, "and the energy delivered by these lines will not just be cleaner, it will also be cheaper."
A year earlier in Carlsbad, while dedicating a solar plant, President Bozo said, "It's also now cheaper to generate electricity from wind and solar than it is from coal and oil, literally cheaper."

In rip off Britain it costs a huge amount to have solar panels fitted onto your roof with little or no subsidy from big brother to offset the cost yet in places like Poland 80% is subsidised by the leaders.
Then moving home its the same again as the place you're moving to is unlikely to have it as well as with heat pump with the preferred wet underfloor heating.

More good news for California:
California needs to triple pace of emissions cuts to meet 2030 goal, report says
March 14, 2024
NEW YORK, March 14 (Reuters) - California needs to triple its annual carbon emissions reductions to meet its 2030 target, a report by consulting firm Beacon Economics and San Francisco-based think tank Next 10 said on Thursday.
The state's greenhouse gas emissions increased in 2021 to 381.3 million metric tons, up 3.4% from a year earlier.
The state's high electricity costs could be holding back progress to electrify its transportation and power sectors, said F. Noel Perry, founder at Next 10.
The state needs to reduce emissions at a rate of 4.4% a year to meet its 2030 target, nearly triple the average annual rate of 1.6% over the most recent five-year period.
The transportation and electric power sectors had the largest increase in emissions in 2021, at 7.4% and 4.8%, respectively.

Would the last one leaving California please remember to turn the lights off. We need to conserve energy.

EV euphoria is dead. Automakers are scaling back or delaying their electric vehicle plans
Wed, Mar 13 2024
Automakers from Ford Motor and General Motors to Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Jaguar Land Rover and Aston Martin are scaling back or delaying their electric vehicle plans.
Though consumer demand for EVs hasn’t shown up in the way executives had expected, sales of the vehicles are still predicted to increase in the years to come.
A broad return to a more mixed offering of vehicles — with lineups of gas-powered vehicles alongside hybrids and fully electric options — assumes an all-electric future at a much slower pace, and it calls attention to ambitious EV targets set for the years ahead.
As ESG investing — or investing geared toward environmental, social and governance principles — emerged in recent years and as Tesla rose from niche EV player to the most valued automaker by market cap globally in 2020, the automotive industry largely took note and began plotting its path forward in EVs.
