I know this isn't an EV but I just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. An ice car hit a tree today and caught on fire. For our avid arborists, the tree is mostly okay.

Just wanted to update everyone on the stolen car in Houston that caught fire. While it isn't an EV it looks to be a total loss unfortunately. This happened yesterday.

Another ICE fire to report. This happened yesterday. It also damaged a port-a-potty unfortunately. Some of it melted. Probably was highly mephitic.

Check out this train car that was carrying 2,000 gallons of diesel. It caught fire ten days ago.

A firetruck carries 1,000 - 1,500 gallons. Plenty of water to put out ICE fire where there is no fire hydrant access, like an emergency lane on highway. It is an issue that fire departments are still trying to find an answer for. |

The departments that have blankets, they let each blanket go with burned EV. It is to remain covered in salvage yard as the batteries can reignite up to 30 days after. |

gblansten, Here's a thought: When the government stops forcing EV's on us and making ICE cars more expensive, I will stop posting negative news on EV's. Do you think as the EV's are more plentiful and the fleet older while being off warranty and for the most part on the secondary market do you think the news will get any better?

The world’s 100 worst polluted cities are in Asia — and 83 of them are in just one country
March 19, 2024 All but one of the 100 cities with the world’s worst air pollution last year were in Asia, according to a new report, with the climate crisis playing a pivotal role in bad air quality that is risking the health of billions of people worldwide. The vast majority of these cities — 83 — were in India and all exceeded the World Health Organization’s air quality guidelines by more than 10 times, according to the report by IQAir, which tracks air quality worldwide. The study looked specifically at fine particulate matter, or PM2.5, which is the tiniest pollutant but also the most dangerous. Only 9% of more than 7,800 cities analyzed globally recorded air quality that met WHO’s standard, which says average annual levels of PM2.5 should not exceed 5 micrograms per cubic meter. China reversed a five-year trend of declining levels of pollution, the report found. https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/18/clima...hnk/index.html |

I’m assigning you to worry about EV fires. You seem to think they explode when rear ended. Your worry on this offloads that for me and is appreciated.

I am pleased that you are willing to take on this worry burden. This is a fairly rarefied and niche concern and it is important that at least one person cover it. Thank you.

Not surprising. Only the start of the scale backs.
https://www.autonews.com/regulation-...amid-criticism There’s a defunct shopping mall a few miles from my house. The parking lot is being used right now by Tesla, and the herd of brand new vehicles sitting in that lot is growing by the day. Hard to estimate, but there could be between 700-1000 cars sitting there right now. The parking lot looks like a few days before Christmas at the old mall. |
