So you are saying I should have requested that it be explained below a fifth grade level… quite rude.

I've told my local sales rep that I'll let her know on an M4 I've been looking at if it's still available at the time of the reveal for the MY25 M2, so I guess this hurries the schedule along.
Which is great. I'm tired of sitting in limbo of could be's and should be's. Truly, I hope that the majority get what they want out of this finally coming out officially. I'm tired. Buying a car has never felt so emotionally exhausting, but I guess that comes with the territory of reckoning with the realities of dreams you've had since playing NFSU 2. |

I’m confident in a 2026 LCI and if so,likely will grab one as an excuse for a new color.

YOLO I would just jump on it in '25 and not risk it if you want the color that bad unless you're willing to trade the color + manual if they offer an LCI without either in '26 |

Just so weird to me that aftermarket HU are at this point a thing of the past? Not really going to be a thing on vehicles ~2018+?
I'm hoping someone will eventually pop the dash and try. Maybe in a few years when there's a good supply of crashed cars with more ECU/HU pairs available. If it's about some other firmware or software connection between the HU and ECU then if you swapped in a '25 version of both into a '24 I feel like it should work, but I'm not patent holding mechanical engineer or anything. |

I have a 2023 (Build date Jan 23) and the HU change was sometime later in the year along with the shifter disappearing. The HU20 is based on an Intel ATOM processor while HU21 is based on a Qualcomm ARM processor. The driver assist is MobileEye. So all 8.0 cars are HU20 and HU21 are 8.5 and beyond. The connectivity to the screen and sensors might in fact be the same, but integrating into the car might be impossible without BMW production software. It's not what I would consider a deciding factor, because 8.0 works in my M50 so I really don't care if some features get added to the other as long as they don't break mine. I am a EE and I'm definitely not willing to experiment on my $80k+ cars. I'll let others do that. I will code them though.
