Gotcha, I think even low volume will still get an Allocation next month if it is that one per year. Yeah I want the car by April but if I gotta wait then if we’ll lol.

Do authorized "M" dealers get more of an allocation? I am #3 at a smaller "M" dealer in CT. Could be #9 at BMW of Manhattan.

They, M dealers are suppose to, but it does not always work out that way. Reality, all certified M dealers should receive additional M allocations. They had to conform to various stipulations as well as pay the price of admission associated with becoming a certified M dealer.

My opinion, you will probably get it sooner via the smaller dealer at spot number 3 versus number 9 at the only BMW corporate owned store within the U.S.

T U D, what exactly is the distinguishing feature of being a M certified dealer? Online jargon reveals, “additional M training” “better showroom” “special test drive events”… I’m wondering about the first feature, does the service department get better training on fixing/servicing M cars?

On the dealer side, I’m guessing they receive more allocations

My dealership is not M certified so I might be wrong about some things. A big part of being an M certified dealer is spending more money to get the certification. I think you have to have a display of all the individual colors. There are probably more requirements. The client advisors are supposed to have "M Certified" Training but that probably means they watch a few more videos than I do for their quarterly training. They theoretically get more M car allocations, but I don't even know if that can be quantified.

For example, my store is in a smaller market. We sell ~ 30 new BMWs a month. We end up selling 5 or 6 M3s a year. But we don't need many more than that. We usually have a few of the odd ball cars sit around for a while, such as the M4 convertible or X6M. It doesn't make much sense for us to pay so much money for an M certification when we don't have the clients to support more allocations. We expect our store will get a couple M2 allocations a year, but that's about what we would sell anyway.

I can tell you that "M certified" doesn't mean that they know how to put the proper fluid in the rear end at the break in service.

Maybe different in Canada, but my dealer said they expect being able to custom configure their HEA car.

There is no hard rule on this one. Sometimes you can modify a HEA car. Sometimes you can't. And worse, you don't know until you get the allocation and try. You just can't predict it though. Like so many things with the M2, no one knows.

If anyone is looking for an MSRP allocation, the dealer I have my order with has their #2 spot available. PM me if interested and I can connect you directly with my SA, he is really good. Dealer is located in the middle of the country and can arrange shipping if you cannot pick up the car in person.

Or one could arrange for PCD and take delivery at The Performance Center in Greer, South Carolina, directly across from BMW Plant Spartanburg.

I did a thing today.. placed the order for a 6MT G87 today.. zero details beyond the process has started and for all of the BMWs I have owned over the years, I haven't EVER ordered one!

Silly to be nervous about it all.. but excited too!

Which dealer are you at? I live in Vancouver,Wa. I’m supposedly #8 at Kuni. Previous customer at Eugene BMW but when I was inquiring about getting on the list for a G87 they wanted 30k over MSRP ?!?!

that is certifiably insane.. drive north to BMW Seattle and buy at MSRP. Period, full stop.

Literally insane.

30k over? That's definitely insane. I can't imagine too many people will be lining up for that. There is the chance that they have already taken several orders and that is their way of slowing things down. There's no need to keep a dozen people on a waiting list you know you can't fulfill.

Congrats! Your specs have been placed into the order bank, status 47. All of the U.S. is still waiting for G87 allocations to arrive.

Almost same as my spec! Did you manage to get an allocation or just added the configuration in the order bank?
