Damn...purchasing a 'Lex when you're 13/14 years old!
Anyway, if that's the case, you likely (and correct me if I'm wrong) had a caliber 3135 movement, which I think has been around for over 20 years. From my personal accounts, that particular movement has been bulletproof (as long as you send it in every few years for routine maintenance). So, I guess my first question still remains: Just curious, where have these "not..uncommon" seizures of movements been documented? thanks |

I don't have documentation. Just waht 2 different European watch specialists (1 in FL 1 in NY) had told me. They said it happens. It really put me off. |

I'm not referring to your own documentation, I was just wondering if you had a website or article you can reference which documents such failures of the movement. It's more for my own edification, if anything else....not that I don't believe these two supposed specialist you've spoken with. |

you bought it in '95, had it serviced in '98 and it "seized" in 2009? That's 11 years without a service. Even then something doesn't add up. My grandma's lady datejust is a 70's vintage... it may have been serviced once, she doesn't remember, and it STILL ticks. Granted, it loses like 2 hours per day, but still ticks lol. Why does she wear it? Sentimental reasons

Rolex appearance just isn't my style right now. I'm more into Breitling and Bvlgari these days. |

Omega Speedmaster (Steel/Silver), Raymond Weil Parsifal, and of course, a few good old Swiss Army watches. I have a SA I got when I was 15 and I'm now 28, still works beautifully!
(I love men's watches.)
