The drummer is his ex-wife. I like her. The video reminds me of a strobe light and is a little nauseating, at least it was for me. I like the music. My daughter saw them live some years ago.

Maison book girl is technically an idol group, but with legitimately good and interesting music. Certainly, they use a variety of unusual or unconventional sounds. One could even describe them as avant-garde. What stands out to me, though, is their use of uncommon time signatures. Even if you don't know anything about music theory, you can probably feel it when you listen.

I also follow a 同人 (doujin, meaning self-published--similar to indie) circle that draws inspiration from Maison book girl. アリスミア・アリスメア (Arrhythmia Alicemare) focuses on the post-rock genre, but also makes use of uncommon or even 'strange' time signatures.
