I'm not sure what you're thoughts are behind dog breeds, but I'll say this; There are no dangerous breeds, only irresponsible owners and/or unfortunate situations. I've been attacked, snarled at, chased by, and bitten by more small breed dogs and "family" breeds than any other. None of which are considered dangerous breeds by todays society, yet every "dangerous" breed I've encountered has been just fine. Difference is, small breed dogs usually don't do enough damage for people to report and everyone thinks it's "cute" they act bigger than they are, and large family breed dogs don't get reported because everyone sees it as an honest and innocent mistake, but if it's a breed of dog that the media tells us we should fear because they look mean then it becomes a big deal and all dogs in that breed get a bad rep (kind of like something else the media tells us to fear). Unfortunately the less respectable communities tend to gravitate towards those mean looking breeds and train them accordingly, contributing to the media and society's unfavorable and skewed perception of them. Animals get stressed just like humans, they react to situations, to stress, to fear, just like any living creature. And sometimes, just like humans, they lose their senses and do bad things. Has nothing to do with breed.

So breeds with a track record of killing people fall into the "dangerous breed class" for me. Yes, animals in this class can be good pets and friendly. Problem is when you mix dangerous dog breeds with stupid or evil owners. |

A Shiba Inu is not the same as a pitbull. Some breeds are inherently dangerous and the vast majority of humanoids cannot hope to possibly ever appropriately train them to be safe in society, as opposed to a shih tzu which regardless of how shitty an owner you are, isn’t going to kill anyone ever unless they are 6” tall and weight 3lbs. Your entire assertion is flat out wrong, and demonstrably false. |

According to a web search, there are actually two recorded fatalities from chihuahua attacks. Makes me wonder if the victims died from laughing at the dogs for being so brazen?????

Speaking of dangerous breeds and LEO, a deputy in Indiana was killed by a dog that wasn't hers in her own home on Tuesday evening. A responding Indianapolis PD officer dispatched the dog, after it charged at them. Quote:

It is very difficult to neutralize a pit bull that has latched onto you. Our K9’s wouldn’t be released with an aggressive dog around. We clear the area of all animals, civilians, officers, etc. before a K9 is cut loose. It will bite anybody outside of the green zone (…aka…outside of the main group).

This is why I never walk our small dog in parks or if I see a big dog approaching on a lead as it should be then I carry him. We don't have the luxury of carrying pistols over here so a concealed truncheon or small aerosol hair spray used as a last resort could well save a pooch should the unthinkable start to unfold.
