Did a little more work on my wash bay.

Its coming together nicely. I need to paint the inside, take my pressure washer setup apart and hopefully get it all plumbed this weekend.

Countertop guy was here doing the templating today.

I have foundation contractors coming out on Monday to try to level the kitchen floor - I requested that be part of the reno, but the ball got dropped somewhere and I didn't recognize the floor wasn't leveled prior to them installing the new flooring. So, fingers crossed leveling the floor from the basement side doesn't cause too many issues with the brand new hardwoods.

I still need to get a roof on the washbay shed, and paint the exterior but I got it all set up this weekend.

That was Saturday, and I let it dry over night. Early Sunday my dad came over to help do some plumbing.

I then installed a 2x6 to mount the reel to, and painted it and the plumbing while my dad shortened the electrical cord on my pressure washer.

Once all that dried, I moved everything into the shed.

Since I grabbed the wrong glue for the CPVC I had to wait 24 hours before running water through it. Rather than wash last night I drank beer and watched the race with my buddy while everything dried.

I woke up early this morning to wash and..... leaks. The piping was fine, it just leaked anywhere I had metal threads in pvc so I did some taping.

I taped up this fitting, but the hose itself leaked so I had to cut the end off and clamp a new end on.

Ok with that leak fixed, I turned the water back on and there was a leak on my bucket filler.

I taped that a little better, turned the water back on and let it sit for a few minutes. I didn't see any more leaks so I pulled the wagon in for a wash.

I have a better bucket filler hose coming from Obsessed Garage but this will work for now.

While washing I figured out the best spot for my wand holder and mounted it. It was so nice to not have to worry about the car drying while I did something else.

And the finished product. I am so excited about this. I really have to thank my dad for all the help planning and swinging a hammer. Up next, exterior paint, roofing, and hopefully lighting soon.

Any info on the tile used for the bar backsplash? I've been thinking of doing something similar in pattern for the floor of our half bath when I get around to modernizing the fixtures, mirror, sink and toilet. Easy to work with?

Redoing sprinkler lines after the concrete guys screwed them up?

Sucks donkey cock.

I had my driveway extended 2' either side a few weeks ago. Things were going well until I turned on the sprinkler lines.

It was like Niagara Fucking Falls for two separate zones.

The concrete crew had punctured the lines with their shovels, cut various heads off, and then just poured over them thinking the lines were abandoned.

No, they weren't. A *tiny* little miscommunication between the job supervisor and the crew.

So, two weeks of arguing with the concrete guy later, he finally came back and jackhammered the concrete out-- and then I spent two days (so far) digging in the slickest clay that I've ever had the misfortune to see-- the stuff is like goose shit and sticks to absolutely EVERYTHING.

It's fucking miserable.

One more day of despair in burying the lines (which are now outside of the zone of concrete pouring and the PVC conduit under the driveway is now properly extended), and I'll be able to have the concrete guy come back and pour the replacement pads.

This? I hate with the passion of a thousand burning suns.

But, it REALLY proves the old adage of "If you want something done right, do it yourself."

I'm lucky to have gotten them to take out the old concrete and agree to repour.

Concrete guys to concrete. Not sprinklers.

And I'm NOT taking another chance the the non-english speaking crew doesn't buffoon it up AGAIN. Doing it myself ensures that things go right this time.

I foolishly made the mistake of assuming competence on their part.

Slow and steady progress for our renovations. Master bedroom done (flooring/paint/closet doors), just need the wallpaper installed behind the bed.

Flooring and paint in the rest of the house finished, paint touch-up happening now, beams finished, cabinets set and most of the hardware installed, counter tops scheduled for Mon or Tues next week. Electricians should be in today to finish some of the electrical that was roughed-in.

The best news is that our front living room isn't full of construction supplies any longer, so we could put it back together a bit.

i have wood sidings and about 10+ years ago did a light sand and applied new primer and paint. some paint is flaking on parts of the house and i think its time to do the process again.

doing research on vinyl siding, it says if your wood is in good condition (no rot) you can install the vinyl siding on top of the wood.

i do prefer the wood though, would it be possible to apply wood sidings on top of the existing wood or would the original wood have to be removed and new one installed?

I would remove the siding and replace. It will give you a chance to inspect your weather barrier and sheathing. Don't be surprised if you se areas with water damage/mold or dry rot

Counter tops installed yesterday. Plumber comes today! Backsplash install starts next Tues.

Electricians still need to finish hanging fixtures and we're waiting on replacement pieces for the island, so that top couldn't be installed yet.

Depending on level of flaking I would scrape, prime and repaint.

If there is nothing wrong with the wood siding I wouldn't remove it to put vinyl siding up. Unlikely that the wood siding is in good shape but the wood under it is rotted.

I live in a neighborhood that is roughly 110 years old. None of the houses that had vinyl siding removed the wood. Too big of a job compared to the benefit. One reason I think many should have considered it is because of lack of any insulation in the walls and old knob and tube wiring. Both could have been updated with the existing siding removed.

Sorry I just saw this. Its basically the same hose but a gray one from Amazon. I didnt like the blue when it was in my garage. Speaking of the washbay I finished the roof and trim.
