Yeah for sure! So what I was offered was pretty expensive and ultimately I opted out of the comprehensive and wheel&tire just because they made my monthly a bit unnecessarily high for the deal on car and loan I got. I did however negotiate my dealership to give me the extended warranty at their cost. I think it is through Fidelity if I am not mistaken. The way I see it, I pay a lot for car insurance and have comprehensive coverage in that- I’m more worried about the engine and trans over anything. The extended warranty is 7yr or 70k miles. They will replace anything after your $250 copay at their cost.

You can always add packages after if you rethink things (I may do this at some point) but remember- besides replacing wheels and tires you are covered in a lot of areas for 3 years. So when it comes close you can always buy a package.

For reference- my buddy in LV got his comprehensive for $1600- I think it may be state and dealer specific at what cost they pay vs what they offer. I was not able to get that deal as Long Beach pays more from Fidelity on this.

My costs (high level):
75k for car at MSRP (not including taxes and fees)
6.2% 72 months
30% of car as down payment
$4050 for extended warranty

That was the deal I ultimately negotiated and went with.

Avoid the RoadVantage packages too for wheel and tire and some of the consumables, but possibly consider the ultimate care that will extend out the maintenance including rotors.

Thank you both for the info! I will probably forgo the extended warranty at this juncture, as I'll likely just extend it down the line.

Based on this info, I will avoid wheel / tire packages, but I think I will get the Ultimate Care+, as I burn through rotors every time I replace my 135i brakes.

Not a bad choice at all- I might do the same with Ultimate care + eventually.

What is your take on the extended warranty? I may reconsider the Ultimate Care +.

I went with the Ultimate Care +. Would getting the car lowered likely impact this warranty?

Ultimate care is more maintenance focused not warranty. Things like replacing rotors / brakes (can be a $5k job) and recommended services beyond the 3 years that are included. Suspension mods should not have effect on maintenance plan. Now if you do after market Suspension and blow the shocks, your 4yr/50k warranty likely wouldn't cover it as an example. That's why getting the HAS port installed is a great option if planning on lowering.

There is a dealer on here that will beat or match extended warranty prices and can be added up until you reach 20k miles I believe. Depending how these first couple of years go I may look at extending through that option but does not have to be done up front.

Sadly, I was unaware of the port HAS.

Tried posting in the regional forum as well but do any of my West coast brethren have any experience with any reputable auto shops that could do my midpipe install in the Valencia/Santa clarita area?

European Auto Source is the truth and widely reputable and known. They are down in Anaheim...worth the trip. I won't let anyone else touch my G87.

If you can get a ride home if they keep it for a few days, I say go for it.

The G87 is home! The drive home was a bit nervewracking because my worst fear is getting a rock chip before Monday's PPF appointment but she made it fine.

Once I got home I got a chance to look through my paperwork and realized I made a huge mistake agreeing to the BMW Extended Warranty. Completely my fault for not going in there with a plan but I feel like I got taken for a bit of a ride by the Finance lady.

This was my first purchase at a dealership and I was definitely a bit naive. Not only did we not even discuss the terms of financing but I agreed to the Platinum extended warranty which comes out to $7000 before financing.

I'm going to be calling them to cancel that today, and see if I can discuss a lower loan length as they put me down for 5 years too.

Anyone have experience in this department?

I take back what I said about the warranty. After some back and forth, I ended up getting the full Platinum warranty for $5k, as well as the Ultimate Care + for like $900 and they threw in 84 months of "appearance protection" for $800. The appearance protection is probably a waste, but a little insurance to protect the bucket seats (includes repair / replacement) seemed worth the incremental cost.

All in... came out to about $95k excluding interest. Yikes.

Wow, I really got taken for a ride. They got me for $7000 on the Platinum warranty, and $3000 for the Ultimate Care +. Again, my fault for not speaking up but jesus christ.

I just left a voicemail to the finance person in today. I'm going to cancel both

Damn bro, they took that extra $2k of yours and put it right into their pocket.

Did you get additional years on the ultimate care? If not, they burned you on that too. I only added the consumables (brakes) to the default 3 year (for now) but didn’t extend the length.

They definitely took advantage of my naivety and my eagerness to just GTFO there with my car. The only numbers I saw were the daily costs of the warranty. It's no wonder they didn't give me a chance to look at the final numbers before she rushed me out.

I blame myself but still feel a bit fleeced

The ultimate care should come in handy since it covers all recommended maintenance and certain key things like brakes / rotors which can be a $5k job. You get it for the first 3 years but purchasable package extends that. The RoadVantage ones however, the wheel and tire and the consumables etc, not so much.

It happens. But the good news is that you will be able to cancel both for a full refund. If the dealer doesn't do it right away, read the paperwork and it will tell you how to cancel. You may need to write a letter requesting cancelation and fax to a number. But both are csncelable and you can rebuy them through a better dealer. I am guessing your Ultimate + is the multi year option? Ultimate Care + should be 850 max, Ultimate Care + 1 2749, and Ultimate Care 3+ 5549. So for $3k you should have gotten one of the multiple year options.

The refund will go to your finance company as a payment to principal, so you won't get the money back to you, but it will reduce your loan.

If you need any help PM me, and i can walk you through it if the dealer tries to play any games!

Appreciate it man. I spoke to the guy who was working Finance at my dealer yesterday and he said it was no problem cancelling them. Sounded like he full on understood (ie they knew they I made a stupid financial decision). I should be getting an email today with the forms.
