Wife: What if it was <our son> out there protesting?
Me: I'd tell him I was divesting from his educational support if he didn't get his place in a a classroom. Back in the day, a little tidbit I picked up somewhere assured that *I* would never be a protestor. The average time a person spends in jail before being raped is 4 hours

Hmm - mental health or intoxicated - how can you tell the difference? He seemed pretty normal once he was cuffed in the car without a public audience, right?

Thanks bro! I appreciate that. It has been a crazy few weeks. I think we have another 2020 upon us, albeit with higher stakes.

Fresh chicken manure was used successfully for years to prevent hippies from trespassing at the Woodstock 1969 farm site on every anniversary of the festival.
(The farm site has since been sold, and is now the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center with concerts on the lawn throughout the year.....)

USC President sent me an email last night, explaining why they disbanded the encampment.
If I trust her, the details of the discussions with protestors could have kept Sedan answering questions from BPost instead of on tactical alert. Giving them 84 minute notice at 0400 is classic!

I have a dumb question. How common is it for someone to get front-ended by a car in front of them and not be found at fault, such as being stopped at a red light and having the car in front shift into reverse and gun the throttle while you sit there helplessly in disbelief?
I made the state police write an accident report despite minimal visible damage, because my understanding is that the car with front-end damage is almost always at fault. I'm glad that I also have a dashcam video, because even my own DW thought that it was my fault. My concern for documenting the other driver's fault is with invisible damage to the carbon fiber chassis, since they crack and frequently total cars because composites specialists cost way more than sheet metal repairs. The trooper had a good sense of humor, but I can't help but think that he was annoyed at having to write it up. Sadly, I had just made the final car payment the day before.....

Driving 42 years, so sure yea I have lots of stories, but the best one I have is:
17-ish yr old kid in a '73 Nova at the North end of the NJ Turnpike. Back then, that part of the Turnpike was pretty uncongested. I'm Southbound, doing probably 90-95 (think of 1973 Nova suspension technology), cooking that rate for probably 10 miles or so. As I get closer to the city, traffic gets heavier and now for a long way I'm doing probably 60-65 with everyone else. Out of nowhere, a plain brown wrapper pulls up along side of me, with a state Trooper grimacing and pointing me over. So I pull over, crapping my pants as I watch him in my side view mirror getting ready to get out of the car. I see him lean over to the passenger seat, grabs his wide brimmed Trooper hat, slams it on his head, and cocks it to the side (what kind of effect was that, lol?). He gets out and I'm watching him storm/saunter up to my window, and wait for it... He snarls at me (pretty visciously) "DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT TOOK ME TO CATCH UP TO YOU?!?!?!?!?!" I didn't know whether to crap my pants or bust out laughing. Needless to say I got two nice gifts out of the deal, first of course was the ticket, the second a story I've told countless times to invariable guffaws. |

That's what I thought, because I've heard that courts and insurance almost always fault the car with front bumper damage for not stopping soon enough. This guy actually shifted into reverse and matted the throttle.....
