So hopefully they'll fix the notorious BMW Orange peel issues

I wish I had held onto it, but there was an article released last year, maybe in 2020 about the paint shop at SLP. It is so advanced that the process to perform individual paint per car in line is as simple as changing a few cartridges. No joke! I am not making this up… maybe someone can locate the article? I have not had much success, but I also did not spend a whole lot of time looking for it either.
Below is an article re the SLP Paint Shop yet nothing specifically relating to individual paint. German engineering firm Dürr delivers first-of-its-kind paint shop for BMW Mexican plant https://mexico-now.com/german-engine...mexican-plant/ Edit: The G20 330 & M340 have the option for individual paint. So… SLP has the availability. Last edited by T_U_D; 01-30-2022 at 12:45 PM.. |

And yet people poo poo the idea of making an M car in Mexico. I, for one, am excited to have an advanced M built in an advanced factory.

Designed and engineered in Germany what does it matter where it is built? After 25 years Plant Spartanburg has proven that. Furthermore keep in mind that the factory is run by BMW brass from Munich, they are on site and are overseeing production. |

Well I'm pumped to see flat bottom steering wheels. Would be the cherry on top if the G87 got one.

I've got one in my Golf R. Meh. Absolutely nothing wrong with the F-generation M wheel. I really don't care for the new one in the G-gen cars, with its odd-shaped and stitched airbag cover.

I have one on my S5 and I love it. Would pay to have another one on an M car.

+1, but I really do not have an issue with the current steering wheel in the G-Gen autos. Edit, the M Sport or actual M steering.

I'd bet a sum that isn't going in the G87.

I’d read a while back that the G87 is getting that hideous instrument panel. Can’t wait to hear the early M240i adopters whine that theirs is already outdated and not hideous enough.

Two points: 1) apologies for the "F" word, it was not intended - please change to FIX as was the original intention 😁 Google auto-correct is to blame there 2) having scanned through that extraordinarily detailed article, I understand now why they allow orange peel - having said that, imho, I think BMW has more of it than any other German manufacturer. That's the bit I don't understand

I just hope/pray that they would add a custom dial / digital dash option, maybe with a "classic" theme where the dials are displayed with the old school speedo and tach. It seems like low hanging fruit to appease a lot of old school customers and keep them on the platform.

I was hoping the M2 would also be produced in Germany, in addition to SLP. That would have fueled my imagination about another potential Euro Delivery in the future.
I would definitely do Individual if available, life’s too short for dull colors.
