My Schwinn Sting-Ray had a built in kickstand. Some bikes had them added later as an accessory.

Every bike that I owned back then came with a kickstand, including my CCM 10-speed (made by the hockey equipment elves in Canada, eh).

The first bike that I ever owned without a kickstand is a 2000's Trek MTB that someone gifted me as a pit/paddock bike, and I was shocked at how Trek didn't even offer one as an accessory for it.....

Some of my bikes as an adult didn't have a kickstand. I held them up with a bike stand like this:

Used to have this for a late night TV snack when I was a kid. Burned it the first time I tried making it. Anybody else have it?

Yep, had to keep wiggling it around on the burner to get most of the kernels to pop.
Then it would puff up into a foil ball.

Yeah, I guess I didn't shake it enough the first time I tried, but I learned.

Being old is going back to where you grew up and seeing the tree that you planted has died of old age.

So that was the name of the bike Schwinn?
Mine was so old it just said Schw...that's where the paint stopped and the rust started.

My daughter is 42 and she and I planted a pine tree sapling that she got from school just before Christmas vacation when she was in 4th grade.

Planted it in our backyard and over the years watched it grow more than 50ft. Last year I had to have it cut down because it got sick and started looking bad and I was afraid it would fall and cause damage to our patio cover and/or house. Was a sad day.

Tried self-checkout a couple of times and gave up. I think it sucks. Besides,
I enjoy chatting with the checkout clerks as it seems to brighten their day.

I love self checkout. Our local Walmart finally installed a bunch of them. So much faster getting out of there. The other grocery store in town has self checkouts, but they won't pay for upgrading the software, so it's buggy as hell. They keep a staff member at a station there just to override the constant squawks from the checkout machines.

That said, I'm not one of those folks you see who load up a shopping cart to the hilt and then take 30 minutes to do self checkout. I rarely have more than I can carry in a couple of tote bags. When we do our "big" shopping trip where we might be buying stuff for the week, we use the normal checkouts. But that's always at a store up in Champaign that has a well staffed checkout area.

Who remembers this stuff?

"Silly Putty has many purposes. You can bounce it, throw it, decorate with it, stretch it or make imprints with it. Besides its numerous recreational purposes, Silly Putty has been used to secure tools aboard Apollo 8, cast handprints of gorillas, and help relieve stress."

For playing 45 RPM records on a 33 RPM spindle. Just snap into the 45 record hole.
