The death of Porsche automobiles is imminent unless people come to their senses and kick out the loonies in the eau capital.

China’s EV makers got about $313 billion in aid over last 15 years
On a per vehicle basis, support has fallen from US$13,860 in 2018 to just under US$4,600 in 2023. This is less than the US$7,500 credit available to US buyers, unless they buy EVs using materials from China. According to the post, China’s sales tax exemptions were worth almost US$40 billion in 2023, with this jumping from under US$10 billion in 2020 due to the rapid increase in sales of EVs. “If Chinese EVs were pieces of junk, then they would not be a serious challenge to the rest of the world’s automakers,” Mr Kennedy wrote. “In general, Western automakers and governments have dilly-dallied and not been aggressive enough.” BLOOMBERG https://www.straitstimes.com/busines...-last-15-years The horse has left the barn with the green idiots in control of the levers of power. The European and American auto industries will be destroyed before this is over. They told us the green agenda would be creating millions of jobs but they didn't tell anyone that the jobs would be created in China. |

Based on the image of the exterior and interior of the 2025 Boxster, I think Porsche designed the car to be both EV and ICE. The new car doesn't look like a dorky spaceship EV thing. It looks like a natural progression of the model.
Porsche has likely played it very safe by making the chassis quite modular between EV and ICE. I bet the battery pack is located in the area occupied by the front fuel tank and area under the center console.

I really wouldn't want to be a auto manufacturer in Europe. mad0260:
Europe Decrees Total New EV Sales Victory, Public May Have Other Ideas July 11, 202 The EU and the U.K. government require around 80% of new sedan and SUV sales to be electric by 2030, but forecasts range from only 40% to perhaps 60%. Despite this, Britain’s new government has said it will bring the EU’s 100% target for 2035 forward to 2030. That huge gap spells trouble for politicians, manufacturers and consumers, and can only be bridged by the arrival of cheap, mass-market cars. Electric car sales growth in Europe has stalled, as the early acceleration inspired by early adopters and corporate purchasers died away. Total victory for EVs requires a mass-market for cheap and cheerful little urban runabouts, but European manufacturers are reluctant to produce them. These seriously affordable vehicles, like China’s Wuling Bingo and BYD Seagull, would cost say €10,000 ($10,900) after tax. Meanwhile, the European Union is seeking to limit China’s EV exports. Investment bank UBS has said Europeans will buy almost nine million fewer electric vehicles between 2024 and 2030 than expected. Wells warned that if the CO2 targets were diluted, climate change targets would be jeopardized. https://www.forbes.com/sites/neilwin...e-other-ideas/ So the choice is good European jobs vs unobtainable green goals. The thing that's missing is the free market. |

Jaguar ‘eliminates’ almost all its petrol cars as it moves into electric era
It will leave only the F-Pace SUV – of which petrol, diesel and hybrid variants are sold – in production at Solihull, before Jaguar begins a new run of all-electric cars going on sale from next year. Adrian Mardell, chief executive of parent company Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), confirmed the other cars would be “eliminated” at a recent investor day, telling the audience: “They’re all close to zero-profitability products.” He has promised the car will hark back to Jaguar’s E-Type glory days, but added that the vehicle will be a “copy of nothing”. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/othe...ra/ar-BB1q0xXO |

"Total victory for EVs requires a mass-market for cheap and cheerful little urban runabouts,"
The quote was absolutely from some unelected bureaucrat who gets to and from work everyday in a chauffeur driven limo or Range Rover. They will be flying off to some exotic location on a private jet to discuss with other socialist idiots how to keep the boot on the face of the folks while claiming it is to save the planet. |

It's lighter than an ICE AMG E63 wagon and RS6 Avant. I think there's a good argument that EV and hybrid drives do not need to weigh radically more than ICE, substituting engine weight for battery weight.

I know this will come as a major shock to you all
Rich Americans Are Biggest Winner Of Government’s Green Subsidies, Analysis Finds July 16, 2024 The majority of the $47 billion in green tax credits claimed between 2006 and 2021 went to high-income households, according to a new study published Monday by the National Bureau of Economic Research. Households in the top 20% of earnings nationally received about 60% of clean energy tax credits, while the bottom 60% of households received just 10%, according to the paper written by Severin Borenstein and Lucas W. Davis, two economists at the University of California, Berkeley. https://dailycaller.com/2024/07/16/r...nalysis-finds/ |

Power grid failure and 115° in the summer might too (also winter). Texas is absolutely brutal to live in IME in the summer. I was just there two weeks back. Lack of public land set aside near population centers too.

Yeah, I don't know what the drive is either, it seems the place to go when you want to give up on life. Obesity rates tell the tale IMO.
