I'm still waiting on mine to come in, any day now, but I bought it as a year round daily.

Mine is my summer car, which practically speaking ends up being end of March to the beginning of November. Otherwise it'll be sub 45 degrees all the time and the summer tires aren't quite capable of the requisite traction.

My daily is a 2017 Macan GTS. Which certainly scratches the fun itch and gives me a bit more confidence when the snow hits.

I do my daily 60 mile commute in my M2. I'm in Oregon so the winter is pretty mild. I just got a set of all seasons though. These sub-freezing mornings are a little sketchy on the summer tires.

When are where’s the event if you care to share? Assuming it’s a public type situation…Would try and attend if the timing works out. Cheers! It’s a fantastic daily driver with lots of personality with the different driving modes- comfort, M1 & M2!

It's my daily 12 months and 4,000 miles per year, all on summer tires.

I thought I was the only person crazy enough to even consider this. Now I can justify myself. So cool!

Back in April of this year traded in a 2022 230i with IIRC under 8K miles (bought it new May 31, 2022) for the M2. Kind of missed that car.

Loving this new 230i. Better suited for my "daily" driver needs than the JCW. Mainly because the 230i has an automatic.

And if this M2 is basically an M4, then it's also basically a Ferrari, so I do plan to take care of it.

wut?

Yes. I make more money than 96% of Americans and yet I can’t afford a 75k toy weekend car. Idk how y’all can either. My car is my car, it’s gonna be driven daily.

Plus I’m in the freezing Midwest. Gonna find out how she handles in the snow with snow tires. Didn’t even think of that when I got it lol.

Trial by fire I guess,

I had the opportunity to test snow and its mostly fine. BUT out of my garage the only road out is very steep into a turn about 40 meters up. One morning there was a fresh snow on a bit of ice underneath and that was difficult, I had to get a lot of speed down below to get up and I had to do it 3 times, increasing speed each time. I live in a big town so most of the roads are cleared swiftly, this one isnt a priority

Other time with snow but not much ice was OK. So Id say unless its extreme conditions its good. The above happened about 2 days before my snow chains arrived lol (i wanted those for Alps skiing trip just in case)

I do it daily. 6 speed is awesome. The first day I got my new car my friend and I drove her from Seattle back to Boston. By the way, she is much more comfortable than my previous f82 m4 for long-distance driving.

Stories like this make me so happy to live somewhere with decent weather year round. Ya we get 3 months of heat but 9 great months and never have to worry about weather affecting the ability to drive (for the most part). But hats off to you for navigating these conditions!

To me the G87 isn't raw enough to be anything but a daily. Nor is it fun enough to be a weekender.

Don't get me wrong, I like my G87, but it's a step back in fun factor versus other M cars I've owned. And definitely less fun that my old Giulia QV or Supra. That said, it's a great daily commuter - comfortable, fast and full of tech. Just keeping it real...
