Is this available to purchase without the round tips?

Installable behind the cosmetic factory tips like the M Performance Exhaust?

Got mine installed yesterday! It’s everything I was looking for as far as sound and appearance. Much louder and deeper tone with cracks and pops on shifts. Cold start is a little loud for 10 seconds or so but not crazy. Rear end looks so much more aggressive especially with the M Performance Carbon bits added as well. 10/10 highly recommend.

Any drone? Running oem air box and down pipe?
How is the sound with the valves closed? My wife likes it quiet, hoping it is simlar to oem with the valves closed.

Any pics?

No drone as far as I can hear. Oem everything performance except the exhaust. Dinan air box to get installed next week so I’ll update after. Definitely quite a bit louder than stock even in eco pro.

For anyone that plans to install the exhaust themselves, here is the step by step instructions. Also be aware that a few auto parts sites are selling this Dinan unit at the $2000 price with FREE SHIPPING! Also , for those of us that live in Massachusetts, don't forget next weekend is the sales tax free holiday. Here is the link for the instructions. https://documents.dinancars.co/d660-0098_r3.pdf.
Good luck!

I think the exhaust tips stick out too much for my liking. Can they be tucked in more?

According to the shop that did my installation, not really. It's due to the bend and the path of the pipes. Also, once you try and tighten the clamp for the outside tips, it pushes them back out.

Would be great if they offered a package without tips (install behind the factory “bumper tips” like the MPE). That and/or more tip options. They look a little long and oversized diameter wise IMO. Said this old man lol

I ordered mine from Extreme Powerhouse and found a 10% off code, resulting in $1800 with free shipping. It arrived in about a week. Only complaint I have is they didn't notify me that it was being shipped and I only knew about it from my UPS app.

Damn thats a steal! I ordered direct from Dinan and it was quite a bit more after shipping and taxes. The regret is real right now.

Just put this on Friday…no other performance mods. Absolutely love it. Just the right amount of sound for the car and very little to no drone

Totally agree. I find myself turning the radio off and rolling the windows down, just to listen to the exhaust because it sounds so good.

Thank you for keeping it real. I have uninstalled the AA DP to get rid of the drone and I've seen some people claim (on FB group) that there's zero drone and I disagree. Compared to the stock exhaust there's still a little drone around 2K rpm but it's far from obnoxious and very livable. At the end of the day, when you buy a performance exhaust that increases the sound, you have to expect it. There's no magic. I love the sound.

viperx100 how would you compare the sound with dinan exhaust/stock downpipe and stock exhaust/AA downpipe?

I have the stock exhaust with AA downpipe and cold starts (valve closed) are surprisingly loud, but once warmed up it’s as quiet as stock. I actually have very mild drone around 2k rpm with the AA downpipe.

I would say that the cold starts with Dinan and stock downpipe are still loud but they are a much more pleasing sound than the AA / stock exhaust. Deeper tone and less truck sounding IMO. Once warmed up, the sound levels out just like it does with the AA/stock exhaust.

When driving, the sound is much deeper but still racy at the higher rpms and brings out the inline-6 of the B58. I love the sound. Enough not to miss the AA DP. Yes, in a perfect world I would have loved to keep the AA DP with the Dinan exhaust (rips were absolutely bonkers) but I refuse to live with the drone around 2K daily. I take a LOT of road trips and 2K is just about the perfect RPM when cruising on the highway and if you aren't ripping past that range, you are in it more often than not. Keep in mind that all of this is very subjective (other than the drone which is objectively there 100% of the time at 2K with the AA/Dinan exhaust setup). This has been confirmed by every other G42 owner on FB groups that has this setup. Now whether you are ok living with it, that's your call. Maybe if I was 20, I'd keep that setup.

I think that the Dinan / stock dp is the perfect sound for me. Racy and deep but never obnoxious and much better than our stock exhaust sound which leaves a lot to be desired. The pops and bangs on the downshifts are pronounced, I can hear my Dinan intake spool up nicely. A+

Should be no more than 2.5 hours for install. That is based off a BMW KSD times so likely be less at a non-dealership.

Factory warranty outside of the axle back section of the exhaust itself would be unaffected.

Exhaust would not fit with the "bumper tips" as the piping would interfere with those covers. There are no plans for alternative tips at present but you could easily source alternative tips (shorter, smaller diameter, slass cut, etc.) and likely still come out much cheaper than any other option out there. Inlet size just would need to be 3" with an overall tip length of 5.625" or shorter.

I actually like the oversized tips in person. Certain angles/pics make them look more exaggerated then they actually are IMO. This coming from an equally as old man most likely. lol.

Just wanted to say thank again for continuing to chime in and offer feedback in regards to the DP side of things as that is not something we ever tested (we are straight arrow in terms of legality). Heres to continues enjoyment now that you have found a happy setup!

My shop charged exactly 2 hours for the install.

Happy to help out fellow BMW owners/future owners by sharing my experience/thoughts. Thanks for putting out a great system!
