Genuinely don't understand what people find so bad about the rear end. To me the chunky rear air vents do a nice job making the rear haunches flow backwards and give the rear bumper some cool definition.

I always liked the f87 m2 but I never found the rear end very inspiring, even on the CS it was just a slightly rounded plain bumper.

To each their own though
Couldn't agree more

This car looks like it is expecting to get hit in the rear corners, really, really hard.

This is unfortunate. I'm not a fan of the G80 design and was hoping that the G87 would be better. It seems the aesthetic trajectory is not what I'm looking for. With no other options in the line-up, I think it might be to time to move on after two decades. No disrespect to those who do like the current gen of cars from BMW. It's just not for me.

Just the way it is now, the rear bumper simply has too much presence and overpowers the rest of the design.

No wonder they need a high-rise M spoiler to offset it and to accentuate that Gundam/Transformer robotics vibe.

It in AW kooks much much better and with the right M performance parts it's going to look awesome

Because most of this forum is 50 year old dudes with iPhone 5S's that have no clue how to take a basic picture.

Just wondering why you find a need to disparage 50+ dudes?? Those are the kind of comments that are unnecessary! Just saying.
I'm 50 and have a iPhone 27 max pro plus 178megapix…

This is really sad to me. I like almost all current BMWs (minus the pedestrian 2), and I think this looks horrendous. Maybe it's the angles.

Anyone’s guess as of today. SOP, Start of Production is scheduled to begin in December with the launch in April 2023.
Thanks. I'm #7 on the list at a larger dealership, but after doing some searching I am #1 at a smaller dealer. Keeping my fingers crossed they get an early allocation.

Reviewers will rave at its performance and gawk at its posterior.

Dumbfounded how this crude and unsophisticated design made it pass a rendering, less get corporate and marketing buy-in. Beyond its appearance, they went cheap on everything from the repurposing of 240i's headlights, rear lights, hood and trunk to the lack of badging, removal of faux side vents, etc. A lack of finesse everywhere, in the most mundane things like the parking sensors that look like an afterthought to odd proportion of front and rear bumper to a poorly executed transition between the rear quarter panel and running board.

Then they choose the most unflattering color to reveal it. Almost seems like BMW didn't give a chit about this car.

Oy. What a design mess. Coupled with the awful ID8 interior, this does not appear to be an improvement over the F87, no matter how it drives.

Yep. Uninspiring.

I don't like it at all. Maybe the color, maybe not.

Previous M2 CS was a much better looking car.

But yes I hear bad colors or it's shot at a bad angle to try and justify this creation. The truth is if it was a beautifully designed car the angles and color don't matter, It
Would look hot at any angle.

This is a giant letdown and they need some new people at the helm.

Proportion can only help
You so much, what a shame.
