200lbs though? That's a LOT of weight for just a bit of extra material here and there

23 m3 base = 72,800
23 m3 comp = 76,700
23 m3 comp xdrive = 80,800

23 m440i base = 58,250
23 m440i xdrive = 60,250
23 m4 base = 74,700
23 m4 comp = 78,600
23 m4 comp xdrive = 82,700

On both:
M Lite base to xdrive = +2k (both)
M Lite base to M base = +17,950 (m3) +16,450 (m4)
M base to M Comp = +3,900 (both)
M base to M Comp xdrive = +8k (both)

Mostly consistent.

23 m240i base = 47,900
23 m240i xdrive = 49,900

Also worth noting:

m240i base to m340i base = +6,950
m240i base to m440i base = +10,350

Factoring all this data, my best guess is:

23 m2 base = 64,350+
23 m2 comp = +3900 (if exists)
Or
23 m2 comp xdrive = +8k (if exists)

I know its not apples to apples. Outside of B58 to S58, maybe the m2 base won't receive all of the goodies the m3/4 get at base (i.e. seats)? I'd still be amazed (and thrilled) to see a start price closer to 60k.
Yeah, I agree with this estimation. We should use the 2023 car prices to estimate the M2 price!

Lets look at the base, since that is probably being debuted first.

23 m340i base = 54,850
23 m3 base = 72,800
+32%

23 m440i base = 58,250
23 m4 base = 74,700
+28%

23 m240i base = 47,900

M premium range between (+28-32%), so G87 msrp range of $61,300-$63,200.

My personal opinion it will be lower end of that range. M2 interior isn't quite as up scale inside as M3/M4. For instance base seats are just M240i seats with sensatec/alcantara(M3/M4 has standard Extended Merino leather). Things like carbon roof isn't standard. Etc...

This is optimistic and I can't fault your calculations (except that the +32% is closer to 33%).

I hope your right, but here's another thing to consider.

A fully loaded m340i (RWD) with every option ticked (and I mean literally everything) rings up at 66,775. That's 6k less than the m3 base.

Similarly equipped m440i (RWD) rings up at 69,525. Thats 5,200 less than the m4 base.

A fully loaded m240i (RWD) comes in at 58,250. Could +3k really get you into an m2 base? I suppose if its truly available stripped down.

When you add up equipment like Ext Merino leather, carbon roof, Msport seats. Those things alone could makeup the difference. Once I saw those seats in the manual test mule, I knew BMW wasn't giving the G87 the full M treatment. At least not to the base model. You will have to pay up in options to get G82-like interior(ticking the box for carbon buckets option which will require Merino leather). Vernasca leather isn't even going to be standard.

We don't need yet another thread where people brag about how much they make.

You may not be but it will quickly turn into that. Happens every time. Nothing constructive comes from discussing what each of us make. We're all adults (at least most of us) and we alone decide if the purchase makes financial sense to us since every situation is so unique. We're all blessed to even be in a position to even consider these cars, so better to just leave it at that.

Hey man! I'm 33 and pulling in $500k per year.

I've got a bit of debt in the form of a $300k mortgage on a property I bought for $1M (worth about 1.5M right now).

Dunno if I'll be able to buy a G87 though! These cars just keep getting more and more expensive! Might have to wait until the market cools down a bit or until I get off my lazy ass and liquidate some of my investments ($400k worth but currently losing -5%! Tough market am I right?)

I was hoping to have that 2nd car to pair with my M5 CS but I guess I'll stay a 1-car peasant for now

Let me know if you want to compare tax returns! Cheers!

You need to re-read this comment you posted and re-evaluate how this can be perceived by other people you do not know in an adult forum. We are here to talk about cars, not how successful each of us are.

Manuals were going for about 72.5K by 2021 so 75K or 76K sounds about right for the G87 (80K for the ZF8)

The thing is there's way too many (personal) financial variables for that to be a meaningful data point.

I work in Real Estate and believe me when I tell you the variables of who can and should or shouldn't buy a house for xyz price point (let alone a car) go wayyyyy beyond income.

I've known multi millionaires who drive Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys, and others who splurge on Ferraris and Lambos. I've worked with clients with income levels across the board and what they budget for a vehicle is all over the map.

The real question is - what do you expect the G87 to cost and what are you willing to pay for it?
