I believe it's an attempt at an ombré. It doesn't bother me but I did remove it from my build merely because I wanted purple interior lighting.

Wireless charger (and digital key) are available in the dealer order system. Apparently they are keeping it off the online configurator for now… Ordered my M240i earlier this month with it and it entered production this week. Hoping it gets built with everything I ordered it with.

I got my car (230i) delivered last Wednesday and my car had wireless charging.

Car entered production on 10/02

I don't have wireless charging, but CarPlay definitely works wirelessly in mine, which was delivered on Jan 2.

Wireless charging is a joke anyway. Buy a USB-C cable and enjoy the fast charging capabilities.

I picked up my car March 11 and it came with wireless charging. No idea what the order date was though. It sucks and I wish I could use wired CarPlay as well. Wireless constantly bogs down and overheats my 12 Pro. There’s also a ton of intermittent latency where music will cut out.

Did you try using it *without* the wireless charging? Like just leave your phone in your pocket. The overheating is very likely due to the wireless charger, which is known to be not very good, rather than the CarPlay which works almost perfectly.

Yeah. That’s what I’m doing now. It defeats the overall sentiment though, since the point of the wireless charging box is to keep your battery charged while it drains from being used for a CarPlay, and to boost your cellular signal through the antenna. I’ll just have to charge my phone by connecting to the USB ports and continue to use wireless CarPlay since there’s literally no alternative. Although, I’ve had good experiences with BMW Navigation - so I could just use that and play Bluetooth music. I’d give OP my wireless charging if he wanted it. Lol.

I personally use the BMW navigation for everything (it’s worked really well for me so far), but still keep CarPlay connected for music and phone calls. Neither of those things run down your phone battery as hard as navigation does.

And if you really need to charge the USB-C port in the center will charge an iPhone way faster than any wireless charger ever could, even if it worked properly. Apple limits third party wireless chargers to 7.5 watts, the center port can put out 15.

Yeah. That's what I liked about my RS5. It had USB-C with PD AND it had wired CarPlay. Which means that CarPlay would operate flawlessly AND my battery would actually be fully charged by the time I got out of the car, even after using CarPlay navigation.
