Wanted to edit my prior post, but the thread won't allow it. So here's my edit:
Even though M2 and 992 are both great and each of its own. I sold my 2020 M2 comp towards the end of 2021 when I picked up my 992, I missed the M2 so much that I just bought a preown 2020 M2.

If you can have both; M2 and 992, do it.

There'll be days you want to drive the M2 and have fun. And there'll be those days for cruizing in the 992 on PCH. Cheers.

😆😆 have you looked at the specs on a Porsche? Sure it doesn't have a big screen but you don't think it has a whole bunch of electronics?

Exactly. One has got to go back two generations to the 997 to get the analog experience from a 911.

Edit, this photo speaks volumes as to how large the 992 is in comparison to a G-body 911.

At least it's not a 1700kg pig like the M2. Proper brakes, proper seats. De-contenting is also available.

Carrera T was introduced starting 991.2 gen, AFAIK. No nav, no nonsense. Just a mechanical locking diff, brakes, and the engine.
At 2x the cost when properly spec’ed.

All great, yet it still has EPS.

Edit, let us not forget the humorous 992 ADMs as well as 18-24 month waitlist to score an allocation.

In terms of feel, yes hydraulic steering is better. In reality, it steals horsepower and is heavier. That's why you don't see them anymore.
On top of that, Porsche EPS is about.. 100 times better than the BMW EPS. Gotta drive to know.

You are correct, one of the few things M2 has going for it against the T is its value proposition.
It however doesn't disregard my statement about the absolute driving pleasure of the T.
M2 drives great for the money, the T just drives phenomenal.

I get that Porsches now are bigger than they were in the past, but all cars are getting bigger. Lets put things in perspective though, when people say the 911 is "getting bigger" or is a "big" car remember it is still less than 180 inches long, 73 inches wide, and 51 inches tall. Compared to my car (and the M2) that is smaller in every direction. Is it bigger? Yes. Is it a big car? I would say no.

I think the REAL reason you don't see it is a combo of the tiny CAFE increase it provides, and it costs less. Hey at least the hydraulic hoses don't leak, as virtually ALL BMW hydraulic steering cars do at some point.

What frustrates me is that BMW has had 20 years to get this right. Pretty sure the E86 Z4 (2003) was the first BMW to get EPS. That's a LONG time ago and by now, if Porsche can figure it out, BMW should have been able to too.

100% - 20yrs is a long time to engineer a system that works properly for their higher-end customers.

The Mini Cooper of that era was the first BMW to receive ESP. Yes, for all intent purposes it is a BMW as it is designed and built by The BMW Group. Nevertheless, you were correct, the E85 Z4 Roadster and the E86 Z4 Coupe received ESP as well.

Just an update on this thread… I ended up ordering an M3 instead… even more practical back seats and I was able to manage getting a discount from MSRP. It’s in first stages of production now, received a VIN number, so looking at hopefully late April delivery.
