There are two holes for cups and they hold cups, not sure what the question is on this one. A cover would make them better but then I would probably leave the cover open so it wouldn't matter much.
I have a 2013 so as bad as it gets and each newer car got a faster version - Cue is slow, especially nav. but the problems are overblown. You want it warmer you hit the up area on the dash, you want to change the volume using the buttons on the wheel are easier. No issue on speed when you are just making small adjustments/changing channels/volume, etc. All of the "buttons" take some getting used which is my guess on why magazine/test drives make it sound worse than it is. I had a 2016 loaner and it was far better to the point I thought it worked well. I still haven't been in a car where I thought the Nav. was as good as my phone, but the new ATS's have Carplay so maybe this solves the problem. In the end, no car is perfect, put a list of things you care most about, spec the car the way you actually want to buy it and see what the actual out the door price is. The style of the cup holders was really low on my list of things I cared about.

Volvo (XC90 only) or Lexus.
Which may not make sense, but if I switched from BMW I wouldn't get an Audi, Mercedes, or Cadillac. If I was shopping those brands I'd just stick with BMW. To switch, my priorities would be changing, and those changed priorities would likely fall in line with a few Lexus models or the XC90. |

Depends on my financial situation at the time, but most likely Jaguar, Tesla, Porsche or McLaren.

Switching right now from an X1 to a Lincoln MKC. More space and way more features for the same price. X1 handles better of course but that's about it.

Yes an X3 drives way better than a MKC but for the same price as a stripper X3 with near nothing in it i get power trunk, nav, parking cameras and sensors, blind spot warning, huge roof and it looks better. Plus the X3 and Q5 are both due for replacement at the end of this year. |

Went back to Subaru, STI for fun, Outback for fam. Got both for the same price as a nice 5 series (what I was previously lusting over).

I moved from BMW to Tesla. Definitely love the Tesla. I drove multiple MBs, Audis, and Porsches when I was shopping. Ended up with Tesla.
Still love BMW, wife drives one. In a couple years tho, when we ll need to get a new car, not sure if we ll still have a BMW... the E class and GLC 43 AMGs look so significantly better than competitors from BMW or Audi. |

Just the standard M5. CP was not even available at the time I bought.

I once had an Infinti G37 and it was a great car, not a BMW, but a lot of bang for the buck.

Too bad Saab died. The 2016 900 Turbo would be a fantastic car. I had an 82 3-door hatch and loved it for being the most intelligently designed car up to that time.
The 2017 ZL1 is such a monster that it's gonna show nearly everything its back end. Tough to find a motor like that with a warranty. Should be an OK DD in tour mode. |

My next car will be a Mazda ND MX5. And god willing...a used Cayman GT4 one day. Don't think there will be anything interesting from BMW from here on out, with the trend to electric hybrids, DCT, etc. Keeping the M235i forever but may buy an old M3 in the future.
