It looks even worse than the new M3/M4 did... omg...
But it'll probably drive great... It's like having a girlfriend who you couldn't look at but you're with her because she can suck a golfball through a garden hose. Extremely well performing but butt ugly. |

On the other hand, I have warmed up considerably to the headlights, and I like the hood a lot. And the CS style rear spoiler helps the rear proportions a ton, almost having me think that aftermarket exaggerated CSL type trunks are going to look very good on this generation. But maybe it's just the dark contrast doing it, not sure. This car kind of looks like to me like the designers were inclined to do something different and didn't know how to incorporate it or proportion it correctly, rather than the M3/4 where to me it looks more like, "fuggit, go freaking nuts."

It's like they started with the front, didn't know how to execute, got stressed and by acciden turned the back upside down.. Maybe it'll look better in person, many cars do. But having 44 years of experience of myself I don't think I'll ever think this car is good looking. |

I like it except the bumpers. I always think of BMW as having short overhangs, nothing unnecessary at either end, boxy and / or flat surfaces, maybe call it efficient? The German thing of - if it doesn't have a purpose we won't put it there.
This has plastic bits poking around for no apparent reason, making the car longer than it needs to be and inviting a lot of road rash from a steep driveway entry. It's not an 80's Pontiac at all but it's got useless plastic in useless areas. There's a chance it's better aerodynamically but that's a stretch. Hoping the M2 revisions get back to the basics, or something like that. The M-Performance parts aren't accomplishing it. |

Looks like the same person who designed the accessories put the shoulder pads in her jacket and the pleats in her pants. BMW design now apparently targets the late 80's.

Oh sure I got banned from the G8X forums for not towing the party lines and kissing BMWs butt about their new pig faced abomination, but they'll let this weird/sexist comment slide.

The previous model looks better. I don't get the point of BMW getting rid of its unique style cues, like the double headlights!? I thought the point of car designs were to stand out from the crowd? Apparently BMW feels otherwise... What a shame.

I cannot believe how cheap and tacky this car looks. Shiny black plastic pieces glued to random areas for no functional purpose whatsoever. That rear end!
This is the design equivalent of cheap sneakers sold by Payless Shoe Source. I'm embarrassed for BMW. |
