This applies to all brands and is mostly due to Covid, but yeah, BMW M or non M will keep selling strong. Sorry but BMW is more interested in expanding its market than keeping the traditionalist boomers happy.

It might just be me, but the front end of the new M2 kind of reminds me of the front end of an F10 M5, at least from the shape of the headlights and air intakes.

Maybe they're going to fit the LCI G20 headlights? They look like they might fit & in the other leak there was a G42 headlight in the background?

I've come to terms with this bumper, hoping they will improve upon it somehow with the LCI.

Now show me those headlights and the rest of the car!

I was wondering the same but if you look at these pics close enough, you can see the DRL is on the bottom of the light...whereas the LCI G20 will have a top DRL.

It does look like the shape is a little different but with all that camo on it it's tough to tell.

This is going the same way as the G8x release. First the leaks, the denials that it can't be true, and then everything all starts to become reality.
And then the strong sales.

Craziest part to me honestly.

Sometimes these new designs grow on me but not lately.

The new looks of the 3 / 4 series really don't say BMW
Wahhhh. Cry about it boomer. Plenty of other brands out there that would love to take your money.

I don't know. If you zoom in on the passenger side headlight it appears to follow a more "traditional" gradual slope up towards the grille compared to the 2 series. But maybe the camo is fooling me, as it's designed to do.

This bumper was designed on zoom during covid days, so I won't blame BMW, lol. Hopefully they can do better when in person.

there's still a panel of camo around the edge of the grille surrounding(top and where the headlights meet the grille/bumper area

Sales so strong that the local BMW dealer has dozens of M cars sitting on their lot, while you can't find a 911, Boxster, or Cayman at a Porsche dealership anywhere.

What I'm not loving this particular leak, it could end up looking a bit like a retro squared off E30/E36. Still need to wait and see.
Every car on the lot has a $10k markup. You literally cannot get an allocation for 9 months in the tri state area.

I feel that anyone ordering a new gen M3/M4 because the front grille has grown on them is LYING!

These people are BMW/M brand loyalists and that's the reason why. Period. The front grille is hideous.

Facts!

Except for the busy tail lights, the new G42 M240i looks like a pretty nice design evolution of the F87 M2 Competition's look. The front grill (joined kidneys), the angular three-hole front fascia mosaic, the mirrors, the fender flares, the body character lines, the rear bumper vents, the hoff kink, and the stance are a very nice progression of styling that adds some edginess and modern design queues but ties back to the F87 M2C. I feel like the G42 M240i took a lot of inspiration from the F87 M2C. So far so good.

Based on that, if I was to extrapolate from the F87 M2C to the G42 M240i to the G87 M2, I'd expect more of the same. But this leaked G87 M2 front end sort of breaks the organic flow. It looks wrong to me, like there is too much emphasis on nostrils and openings. The whole thing is a grill, with more open area than body surface. The boxy lower fascia openings have no cohesiveness at -- almost looks like the front end clipped a curb and some of the parts fell out.

Be interesting to see what the rest of the G87 M2 styling package looks like, but from what I am seeing now, I think maybe the M240i is the high point of the new generation's design language, and they took a weird turn with the M2.

I have always felt my F87 M2C styling was getting a bit outdated, but I can't say the G87 front end styling is appealing to me at all. If this design is supposed to make me want a new model, it's not working so far. And that's saying something, since I am usually a sucker with money burning a hole in my pocket for M cars.
