I do not think this is true. Engine, transmission and cooling packages are the same across all the auto G8X cars so far, including the CS/CSL cars.

It’s only the software that’s different on them.

G87M2 is rated to 460bhp/405 lb-ft (550 Nm) while G80M3 is rated to 503bhp/479 lb-ft (650 Nm)

That raises a question about the 2025 M2 then, with the AT version now having 443 lb-ft (600Nm) of torque I would assume that means if they were using the 8HP55 version before they would now have to switch to the 8HP65, which I would presume is what the M3/4 use?
MY25 G87 w/AT has the GA8HP76Z-XDV transmission same as MY24 G87 w/AT.

Thank you for clarifying that. Do all of the G8x cars use that same transmission then? If the 76 indicates it's rated for 760Nm of torque it should be plenty of head room for the entire lineup.

They all share the GA8HP76 but differ in a couple of ways. The last character in the first set for RWD is not the same as xDrive cars and the suffix for each model are different.

How heavy will it be…..? I think an M4 with xdrive would still be a better buy. By Upping the power and keep it RWD with a high price tag just does not make sense.

No CSL suspension components is a surprise unless this is not the whole picture.

We retrofitted a whole bunch of M4 CSL parts (front hubs/engine and transmission mounts, ARBs) to our G87 and flashed in the CSL software into all the modules and it feels like our M4 CSL which is a very good thing.

I doubt it’s the entire picture

I love what you’ve done

What's written in the article is not the whole picture. The spy photo clearly shows a front lip.

While this is true for RWD variants of the G8x cars, the transmission is different for the AWD versions.

The AWD G8x cars have a provision for the transfer case on the transmission that the RWD cars do not have.

This is why a transmission swap is required (or significant modification to the trans case) to go AWD on a RWD G8x car.

For the money they are talking I would assume carbon ceramic brakes for the first time on an M2?

As I look at what is going to be the CS; I'm not interested. I'm mostly not interested because it's AT and I want a stick, but to each their own.

Latest spy shots. Front splitter no longer has camo but does not look to be CF. This is preprod so take it with a grain of salt.

F87 M2CS had a CCB option.
