Nice render. Bumper looks unfinished though, I'm sure there will be more to it. Overall it looks great

I can't get around how square those two lower openings are in the bumper. It doesn't look like it matches any other lines of the car.

They got the shapes. Triangles, rectangles…now just need circles somewhere and we’re good.

Appreciate the work. The car looks bland. Why no vertices grille slats?

Liking/disliking its look is purely subjective but I disagree with your reasoning. M2 render headlights are more or less square shaped as well as the bumper, bumper openings, grilles and even the running LEDS... there is a good design flow and they all match. Lots of squares with rounded corners.

Disproportion is the problem I have with G80/G82. The sharp and angular headlights, hood lines, bumper ... next to a couple of huge horizontal oval grilles in the middle....

Put it me down for one. I don't need extra time.

Hmm, I respectfully disagree. The rectangular cutouts in the M2 bumper use right angles. They're legit rectangles. I don't see a single 90 degree design line anywhere else on the car.

Personally, I think it's an okay design but by no means attractive

I see little incentive to upgrade to this from the F87, while the interior is significantly better, the exterior will feel like a big downgrade
Except for the insiders we have on this forum have said multiple times this render isn't accurate and I trust that since they've actually seen the vehicle
What insiders?

Spy shots of bumper match the camp cars spy shots

Might be a tad bit different with grills and such but the base design looks pretty certain to be like this
Lemeiter and Scott.

Lemeinter said he believes the bumper we've seen is for another vehicle but not sure which one. Either way I'd be fine if I stand corrected as I think it looks pretty cool already

M2 G87 front render

seems like a modern interpretation of the boxy 90' DTM E30s that we all love. Give me some over the top bulging fender flares and I'm sold.

also required:
a real handbrake
analog tach and speedo
6 and 4 piston brakes
carbon buckets
6MT
motorsport sized wheels
3400lbs max

Am I dreaming?

My guess is that if this is the real bumper, those square holes will have some other plastic or carbon fiber piece in it.

Despite the M2 logo, the usual tow hook location and structural lines to host a LiDAR in the lower part of the front end (as seen on G87 M2 spy pictures and on the G42 2er), for the time being I still remain skeptical. But I won't rule it out per se.

As pointed out multiple times in the past, the front end design of modern BMW M cars usually features a /---\ central intake design instead of a \---/ design (see for example the dedicated thread visualizing the front end evolution here ("M front bumper design evolution from Z3 M Roadster to M2 Competition")). It would be another design language change if BMW M discontinues this modern hallmark design trait. Unfortunately, ever since the G80 M3 and G82 M4 have come into existence, a radical change for the sake of change has become possible.

Like or dislike ? Two aspects that I personally like about this mystery front end: the suggestion of a different headlights design than the G42 2er one + kidneys design (strong lines + proper compact size).

Now let's imagine for a moment that this front end bumper would reflect the real deal (albeit a copy): expect plastic or carbon fiber pieces (aka 'fangs' and 'air curtains' for aerodynamic purposes - cf. the 'form follows function' motto) and metal mesh parts still to be added in order to properly integrate the front parking sensors + to host a license plate + black plastic parts hosting the LiDAR located in the lower central intake.

To those skilled in drafting renders: add 'fangs' (either in body color or in carbon fiber), a license plate, LiDAR \sides/ and eventually also throw a CF splitter in the mix.

F87 M2 ('fangs' and 'air curtains' integrated - not bolted on):

F87 M2 Competition ('fangs' and 'air curtains' integrated - not bolted on):

F87 M2 CS ('fangs' and 'air curtains' integrated - not bolted on):

Lazy quick photoshop hack just to get you the very basic idea of the visual effect of added fangs and air curtains (keep in mind that the mystery front bumper features squircles, more boxy):

This is a pretty radical design change. Not sure what to think of it, interesting nonetheless.

I think this looks good. Which means the real thing won't look like this. (Still butt sore from the g80 release)

I've been wondering about this. If you look at the corners of the camouflaged model, there's what appears to be a diagonal line in the space occupied by the square openings. I had to play with brightness/contrast to see it. That could be an outline of the fangs. However, the fact that it's not part of the same bumper mold we've seen (again, assuming it's legit), the fangs are likely to be a separate piece, perhaps in carbon fiber on Comp and body-colored on base.

That would also explain the giant lack of space for a US license plate if there is an overlay that is missing. Regardless, great job so far!

Without the DCT, this new M2 will lack that special spark. It will be fast and sublime for sure. Really interested to see what BMW does to the ZF tuning.
