Ct4v blackwing is the only other vehicle I'm considering

It honestly is a great option, about 10k cheaper and looks amazing. Probably drives equal if not better to the m2, and definitely sounds better

If I weren't a BMW fanboy I would objectively get the blackwing over the m2

I took a serious look at the new Audi RS3, but that car is unobtainium. The order backlog is quite long, and they're not releasing new allocations right now. I doubt I could even get a 2024 at this point.

Yes, we had 2 people with the Supra in our track day club, both got rid of them within the year due to overheating of both the cooling system and brakes. I don't think they attempted any significant amount of aftermarket mods to make them track day worthy, though.

Surprisingly with fundamentally the same running gear but more weight, the F22 M240i with more front camber and the M-Diff does a lot better than the Supra with no cooling system issues and brakes fine if not overworked too much.

Yes!

My wife is away on business and I'm typing this while wearing her red high heels, a pair of dangly earrings and the matching bra/panty set I bought her for our recent anniversary.

Oh, sorry. This thread is about cross SHOPPING.

idk about the U.S but here my M2 as specced is MSRP 96k (71.6k USD).

I specced a CT4V Blackwing with upgraded leather interior for MSRP 81k (60.4K USD), delivery in 9 - 12 months

This is Canada so no markup on either vehicle

I spec'd a ct4v blacking and it was about 72k usd. My m2 build is 65k. The Cadillac also just doesn't look good to me. I also don't think it will hold it's value as well as the m2.

I've considered finding one to test drive and see if I'm blown away, but then think "nah, I'm gonna love the m2"

Considering Cayman. Will be happy with either. Owned many cars over the past 50 years but don’t get emotionally involved. Well, maybe my 1965 Mustang K fastback. :-)

I ordered a CT5-V Blackwing in October of 2021, now with an estimated delivery date of 3/23/23. I'm not sold on that date holding up, it's been a goat rodeo as they say.

Now at (maybe) the last minute, I'm considering giving up on the Caddy and getting a 2023 M2 instead. I don't have a deposit so that's not an issue.

Some background info:

I had a 2019 M2 and really loved the way the car was playful and was so eager to step out, in a controllable way. So much fun.

I have a Tesla Model X Plaid as my current daily, so stoplight fun is already checked. I'm wanting an "experience car" as my 2nd vehicle.

I have three kids: 11, 8, & 3. So a backseat is necessary.

A manual is also a must have

The Caddy is supercharged which should eliminate turbo lag, which I absolutely hate.

I like the way the Caddy looks much more than the new boxy squareness of the M2. I would probably get in black to hide some of the lines that make my eyes bleed.

The main thing is the M2 will be almost $50k cheaper than my optioned CT5-V, which has almost every box checked including the carbon ceramic brakes.

I expect the Caddy will depreciate significantly more than the M2 over the next 3 years, which is on the long end of my history of keeping cars.

I'm completely on the fence, I think I'm leaning towards getting the M2 now, and selling in about 3 years for a moderately used CT5-V at a nice discount. Or something else that comes up, who knows what the future holds.

RS3 hatch (or sportback whatever they call it) would be a gamechanger. Super practical, great all-year performance, and decent luxury (with decent looks). The Golf R is tempting, but too 'childish' imo.

Cross-shopping

The only cross shopping I might do is the G82. Currently have an F82, and had the two previous generations of M3 coupes. I put in a preorder for the M2 without ever having even sat in one of any vintage, so I want to see and feel one in the flesh before I make up my mind. The M4 would run about $17k more as I'd option it, so that is a factor.

I also had a 2019 m2 and just got a CT5BW. Have driven it about 100 ft into garage due to being in MN with 2ft of snow in my front lawn. Anyhow - I get what your saying about something fun but you did mention 3 kids. The BW back seat is huge and will actually fit all 3 kids. Only can haul 2 kids in the M2. I ended up with BW because the reviews on the regular m3 manual. Mushy manual, ave suspension, muted steering. I’m sorry but 95 percent of the m2 will be like the m3. Only diff is it’s slightly shorter but less power, similar weight and everything else is same. Caddy bleeds driver engagement while m2 while fun and better than most sport coupe and sedans will still seem muted. We shall see on what holds value more. A car that they make 1700 a yr and soon to be stopped in 2024 vs a car that just getting started and will be pretty easy to obtain in an ur or so and potentially go down more due to the comp version. Why option the BW with everything when ur not going to get those options on the m2. Just get a strip down one and sell it in 3 yrs. Don’t think it will take too big of a hit.

I'm on a list for type-r, corolla gr, supra manual and rs6 avant.
Will get one of those only if g87 gets delayed.

I'd love an rs6, but the cost is a bit exaggerating.

They are about dead even here
I've priced my CT4 V Blackwing a hair under 70Gs
My M2 is 65-66Gs.
The Moonroof & quilted seats in the Blackwing are $6000
The reg seats in the M2 are great. The Blackwing's base seats look terrible compared to the Quilted(which are comfy, snug & gorgeous)

I'm in the same boat F80, E92 and a C7 Vette. The M2 is better looking than the G82 in my mind and way less money for the same car. I won't feel guilty tracking it and not have 90 thousand plus into it.

But if you add the carbon pack, transaction fee nonsense, taxes, registration etc. you're looking at close to 80k. Buy a couple tanks of gas, a new set of wheels and tires for the track and presto you're at 90!

Cross shopping this with a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0. If I cannot get an allocation remainder of the year, I will jump on the M2. However, if it is by the end of the year, I am hoping we get some news whether this generation of M2 Comp will have a manual. That is something I may wait for...

Good choice. I am wanting the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0. I have a deposit down and am just waiting. Not worried though as I am not in a rush.

I tried to get on the list for a gts 4.0. Local dealer said they got 1 last year and there are 7 peeps ahead. And have to buy a $5k Porsche watch from them. Can’t wait for the car market to crash so Porsche becomes somewhat normal again.
