There's only one M2 model with start of production in 8/24. It is still called "M2" with no suffixes, like the current one. In a very unusual manner, the torque specifications of this model differ depending on the transmission installed: 550Nm (as before) for the manual but a bump to 600Nm for the automatic.

Everyone always seems to conflate what BMW advertises with what the car actually puts down. The best way to look at it is whatever BMW says the car is making, it's making more. They always underestimate their power figures. I don't know why; they just do, and not just on M cars.

For arguments sake let's say the M2 in its current form which is rated at 453hp is actually putting down 473hp. MY25 with updated +20hp tune will be putting down more than that. It's that simple.

Perhaps, but it's really just marketing. In current form there have been dynos, by the same people, of stock M2 & M4 Base putting down near identical whp numbers (~470). BMW says the M4 has 473 hp and the M2 has 453 hp. I'd bet they're going to claim a hp bump (although not sure why in just the second model year) & in reality it'll still put out the same. I guess we'll see.

Confirmation for MY25 power increases. Updated 1st post.

The 2025 BMW M2 will start production in August 2024 and it will bring some interesting upgrades to the sportscar. For starters, we’ve already reported that the G87 BMW M2 is likely to get a small power bump. According to insiders, the G87 M2 is set to deliver 480 PS, equivalent to roughly 473 horsepower. We should point out that the amped-up S58 specification is earmarked for the regular M2, which won’t get the Competition badge. There was no update on torque until recently, but the usual insider ynguldyn stated last week that a torque increase is possible.

Now according to our own sources, we will see a bump in the torque levels as well. The 2025 BMW M2 will bring 600 Newton meter of torque (442 lb-ft) to the table for the automatic transmission. While the six-speed manual M2s will also get the power bump, the torque stays the same: 550 Nm (405 lb-ft). Of course, that’s most likely related to the design and engineering of the six-speed manual.

base low option G87 on autotrader for 61k... around the price of several other low mile f87 comps. we might see used G87 base and F87 comps (with more miles) for the same money in a year or two.

The only time you need more HP is when you are doing a track day in a group that only allows passing on the straights and you are behind that annoying Corvette Z06 or 911 Turbo S that can't drive for s%#$ in the corners but blasts off on the straights without letting you pass.


But this M2 has more than enough power on the street and on track for plenty of fun. More power would just be for bragging rights. But hey, we know we all want more power. BMW and Porsche perfected the formula of giving us exactly another 20HP with each new refresh. And we fall for it every time

Tag since you seem to be the man in the know and my guy for information I need some guidance. When do you believe the CS will go into production? I know this may have been discussed before but not sure how BMW's production start for a given model year. If the CS's model year is 2026 does that mean production starts in 2025?

If that is the case, when is the best time to put down a deposit? My dealerships have stated that they do not take deposits until a car is announced. I am trying to prepare for a future announcement and just want to be ready/plan for it.

It depends on the dealerships allocation spot and what your build is, the more carbon fiber you have seems to delay the build (especially the buckets) it can be as fast as with in a couple of months or be as slow as mine which took about 10 months, it kept going from finding a production spot to order received for about 8 months then I got the VIN and the car in about 2 1/2 months.
