Yeah, that was my guess before details were released.

Turbocharging has really come a long way.

I'm sure the younger me would have been all about this super Vette, but these high powered 500hp+ cars do absolutely nothing for me anymore. I like cars that I can really push on B roads, have fun with, and beat on. huge power does nothing for me nor do I find it desirable anymore.

Also, these C8s look like kit cars. The back half is all sorts of wrong. The Z06/E-Ray/ZR1 certainly are major improvements with the overall body styling, but as a whole, the styling is disjointed, excessive, and over-styled. There's not a clean line on the car. The car will not age well, just like the C7.
All good points. I satisfied my craving for big power, and learned that there is actually such a thing as too much power. It is an easy bolt on for me to take my 640 HP GT500 to 750 HP and more. And tempting. And relatively cheap. I also discovered that there are no street tires that can handle the 640 HP I already have. It became an exercise in futility.

I won't comment on looks, because I always put function above form. I'd like my '22 M550 to look like a 1970 Cuda, but I'll live with it.

Your guess was it didn't have much down low, just 800 ft. lbs. at 3k rpm?

Yeah, but they hadn't released any figures yet (or I hadn't seen them yet) other than over 1000hp. I was wrong, dunno what you want, lol.

Agree with every word except the last bit, C7 looks good.

C5 Z06 is where it's at Cleanly styled, purposeful, light, simple, easy to work on, no BS, could be pushed on the street, and was somewhat AFFORDABLE back then (mid to upper $70K in today's dollars).

GM isn't alone is this styling silliness. Porsche, Benz/AMG, Ferrari, etc. are all guilty of ruining their halo cars with gawdy, over the top styling, wings, excessive aero, massive ducts and silly aero panels gaps/vents/overhangs, etc. It's not necessary.

The answer is not more and more power. Take note of the best drivers cars in the last ~20 years and note of how much power they have.

In Porsche's defense, everything on the RS has a purpose.
