Well McLaren, and now Ferrari with the new 488 GTB, are above 8000 RPM. But as far as reasonably attainable cars go, not many on the market today are over 7000 RPM.

If you're tracking it extensively, you may just want the smaller standard fuel tank. If it's mainly used for driving on public roads, then you'd want the larger one...and just not fill it up as much before going to the track.

It's basically an option for the super anal people who want to shed as much weight as possible.

Lets put it this way.. Z06 and gt4 will draw two completly different type of crowd. Yes z06 is faster in every measurable way.. But id rather open my garage door and see gt4 everyday then the vette.

no doubt this car is a beast and one of the most desirable cars on the market. these will all sell quickly and I predict they will hold their value as well as every other GT3.

HOWEVER, as much as I'd like to believe it's something I could drive around town, this car has to be really uncomfortable as a daily driver. so what you're left with is an exceptionally great track toy for $100k. Definitely a bargain for anyone in the market for a GT3 looking to row their own gears and save $40k+. but too rich for my blood considering how much I'd use it. would be a great third or 4th car though.

gotta respect Porsche for continuing to put out the goods.

Why can't super anal people just not fill up the whole tank? Why the need for a small tank just to appease them? And if those super anal people are so concerned about lap times, then they should be less concerned about the miniscule effect of 2 gallons of gas than the use of heavy 20 inch wheels or the lack of PDK. Actually if people are so concerned about lap times why not buy a Z06 or used GTR instead? I keep getting told by Porsche fanboys that their cars are more about the "driver experience" and not about chasing every tenth of a second off their lap times

I'd recommend you don't come to such judgement too early. IMHO, Porsche knows how to setup a chassis better than most companies, they are truly masters in my book. I never felt the GT3 was harsh on the road, it was my daily driver; it was nothing plush like the M4, but much more acceptable than may think.

I understand your point and don't like to draw conclusions before first-hand experiences, but I can make that point with a fair amount of confidence because of where I live. Chicago roads are bad enough that the M3 is pushing right at the limits of how stiff I can go with an acceptable level of comfort. in better parts of the country (with smoother roads and less winter weather), this car very well might make for an enjoyable daily driver, but not here. I have two garage spaces - one for the wife's family SUV and one for me. I couldn't make this car my only car - there would be too many occasions where I'd have to arrange alternate transportation.
