You should tell your lady that you will get her an average ring now and then upgrade it at your 10 year anniversary. |

Stay with her and you will be seeing wide, open spaces instead of walls.. Cause once she cleans you out, you'll be living in a Bimmer down by the river.

M235i isn't large enough to live in, OP. You will at least need a Wraith.

It is one thing to like nice things and want a nice expensive engagement ring especially given she will wear it for the rest of her life and it's meaning.
I'm sure most of us here could sympathise with that given what we are willing to spend on cars we change every few years. However to demand a certain price range is something entirely different. Especially when that price tag 20k. Saying I don't want a ring for less than 1k is understandable, 20k is just snobby. I'd be saying no and if she chooses to leave you over it, let her. |

I've always thought about this and honestly, consistently do. My ex wanted a larger rock and was willing to sacrifice on the other 3 C's so I was on the hunt for a compromise. I budgeted out 10K, which seemed reasonable for what I was looking for and dropped into Tiffany's when I was in NY. Found a .92 carat VVS1 solitaire on a platinum band for 12k, out of my budget but after seeing it in person, was absolutely floored on how nice it looked.
I didnt buy it but it was the one I planned on buying. Then we broke up after 5.5 years about 4 months later. |

I guess this is why we buy diamonds in order to start a marriage. Both tend to be based on BS and hold no real value but hey at least the diamond will actually last forever. Except once you say I do, it becomes her possession so if you do get divorced she gets to hold on to that ring "forever".

My vision is she also gets the car, or the creditors will. I saw an 80's transam with T-tops. The paint is many colors from fading and rust. He is an expert with duct tape to seal the top.

Orgo prof explained the process. Basically involves pressurizing methane (or some gas composed of carbon atoms) at extremely low or high pressure. Supposedly, that breaks the bonds between the carbon atoms, and they align directly into a mold of the carbon arrangement of diamond. Jeweler said that this produces flawless a diamond; hence it's too good to be true. The certain flaws within actually give real diamond some value, according to him. |
