Personally I think Jos jumped the gun a bit shopping Max around last season ... but I understand why he did it ... to make Red Bull commit, and get a nice little payday, in the light of all Max's car troubles. However I do think Red Bull is where Max should be. He's young ... he'll eventually drive for Ferrari or Merc ... likely when Ham and Vettel are done or not as competitive. Honestly I think Ricciardo is a great utility driver (#2) ... he's like a young version of Kimi: he gets his head down and gets on with the program; he can move up from the back of the pack; he brings the car back safe the majority of the time; and with a faster car, I'm sure he'll consistently podium (again like Kimi). A plus that Ricciardo has the Kimi doesn't ... he's extremely likable and easily marketable, and has much more interest in social media than the vast majority of drivers. Another reason this story might actually have traction .... Ham did mention - iin an off the cuff comment - to Will Buxton last season, when he heard of Vettel extending his contract with Ferrari ... something along the lines of 'I guess that is not longer in the cards, but I'm content where I'm at too' ... meaning driving for Ferrari ... however a bit disappointed, but fine with staying with Merc. |

And I really hope ..The Red Bull Renault RB14 engine can close the power gap with Merc and Ferrari ASAP ! That would be mind blowing for the F1 spectacle ! Knowing that the 2018 Merc has a power output from 1000 HP ! => https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/13...000bhp-barrier

I like Daniel R. I think he is as good if not better than Max V. I see Seb locked at Ferrari for the next few years, Max at Red Bull and Lewis at Merc. I give Daniel an even money chance of going to Merc for 2019, based on Bottas not performing this year, Sainz doing really well (giving RB the option of not chasing Daniel too hard), and no one else really fitting the brief for the second Merc seat. Against Daniel is that he is ex-Red Bull, Merc have their young drivers, and Merc need to build up another future champ for when Lewis retires.

Anyone who doesn't like the way ESPN cuts to commercials should check out the Motor Replays add on for KODI. Full coverage from Sky Sports, very few commercials, all practice rounds, qualifying, pre race, race and post race. There isn't a mute button for Crofty but he's really only that annoying in the first half lap.
In addition, Motor Replays has just about every form of motor racing imaginable to watch. Moto GP, Motorcross, Superbikes, Formula E, Formula 3, F1 (of course), NASCAR, Australian V8 supercars, Rally Cross, Speedway, Isle Of Man TT (if you've never heard of it then look at some you tubes to experience the insanity that goes on there every year....World Rally, Documentaries....the list goes on. You're welcome. |

Good grief, they would agree to such a huge driver swap this early in the season? If it's happening, I'd like to see Vettel/Alonso at Merc, and Hamilton/Verstappen (though I think he's through 2020 at RB?) at Ferrari. I like Kimi, but I think his time is coming to an end. He just cannot seem to perform where he needs to be during a full race.
Bottas could go to Red Bull. |
