In the Military I was detailed as the Battalion XO's driver, and we were prepping the unit for an emergency deployment. Along with deploying the troops, we had to prep all the vehicles for deployment and drive them to the nearest port for loading and shipping, and the XO ended up leading 3 different caravans as we got them ready. We'd lead the caravan down to the port, make sure everything was organized and loading properly, then drive back and get ready for the next one.
I ended up making 4 drive trips total from Ft. Bragg to Wilmington Port Authority in 72 hours; ~2 hours each way. Other than a couple cat naps when things were quiet, I was up for over 90 hours straight before I finally hit an actual rack for sleep time. best part is we were flying in, and they turned us around mid-flight and cancelled the deployment... All that work for nothing |

Worked on average 60 hours per week in 2006-2018, hands on job with all over the country travel. One particular day stands out: 26 straight hours with one 45 minutes brake.

This was back in the summer and fall of 2007. We recently relocated to Toronto (Canada). Typical to most immigrants working crazy hours to get a break in the industry. In addition, during the summer and fall, I was also writing the CA and CFA exams. And icing on the cake, we had a baby girl in July. Those were some of the hardest and memorable months. Generally would be coming home late and then sitting down to study with my books flat open on the dinner table. I would have my daughter on my lap holding her with one hand and her bottle/pacifier with the other.

That's what numerous people in the accounting field have said to me over the years. Great resume fodder straight out of school, though.....

Isn’t that the truth, quitting for me was like trying to leave a cult. They wouldn’t accept that I was quitting and did everything they could to suck me back in. It was almost creepy.

90-110(ish) hours a week for about 4 weeks in the desert while on TDY then driving 2.5hrs to the city I was flying out of. We were mostly outside the whole time in a variety of conditions and required PPE for most of it. Co-worker and I took short naps and traded driving responsibilities on the way back. Checked in at my hotel at 0300. Checked out at 0500 to head to the airport.
Turns out I parked my rock and dirt laden SUV (rental) amongst the fancy section of the valeted cars but was too tired to notice at the time. ![]()

80 hours/week average for a year...I'm salaried but due to the dire situation our business was put in due to the SAP ERP transition, I was also paid overtime for up to 70 hours. Man my paycheck looked good that year. Generally, I average 55 hours per week, not too exhausting.
