is that 5g connection worth getting?
If you would need a constant unlimited 5G connection, hotspot uncapped, it's only $20 a month with T-Mobile.

My radar detector needs an active internet connection for Waze/Escort Live crowdsourcing data, plus I use a spare phone to stream music through the USB outlet for best fidelity, so I can see the value in a dedicated 5G connection in the vehicle.

However, if it seems like your phone satisfies your needs and it would just be redundant internet connection, then skip it.

It's a $350 option in the US.

Everyone needs to realize how less expensive these cars are in the US vs. everywhere else in the world. There are a number of business/financial factors that allow this; we should feel grateful. Pay for the CF roof or not. Most of don't track our cars (no access to a track, no time, expensive, etc.); even for track use, I can't imagine a non-professional driver would notice the difference between a BMW with and without a CF roof. Yes, I've owned BMW Ms with and without the CF roof...I think for most of us its a cosmetic rather than performance enhancement. There is nothing wrong with that of course.

I said this before, it isn't about the weight. It is about having more room for a helmet.

They market these cars as track ready. So, forcing people that do track their M car spend another $2600 to be able to fit comfortably in the car with a helmet on is ridiculous.

Just make slicktop steel roof a no cost option. Then BMW is still making more money out of the situation, by not having to equip a car with a sunroof. This really isn't difficult, they will be producing slicktop M2's for other markets.

As discussed in Germany the steel roof is standard. A steel roof example shown below.

Car looks meaner and sportier with the carbon roof, which I know is beside the point. As mentioned, a steel only roof option should have been standard (for weight savings) in the US, moonroof and Carbon optional. Most who buy this car do so for the performance and aggressive looks and having a fishbowl over your head ruins the aesthetic appearance of car. Yes, it's nice to open up the moonroof on a bright sunny day, but I hardly do it cause of the glare and just roll down my windows. Point is give people options and don't force expensive ones on them just to make more money. That's obviously why the US options are structured so.

Any idea when the car will be on the NA website folks?

The ‘build your own’ will probably not launch until closer to production which begins on week 49.

I love a moonroof more than the next guy and cant remember the last car I bought without one, except the F87. I dont track my car, I just find it more aesthetically pleasing without one on the M2

I'm trying to warm to the idea of having the moon roof. I had it on my F87, couldn't find a slick top at the time. I used it occasionally since I had it, but would have preferred not to have it. I have one of those panoramic roofs on my Mazda CX50. I like it sometimes.

2600 is a lot to pay just to not have a moon roof.

It's not a "track" thing for me, I just don't need one.

Unreal. There is really no explanation as to why someone can't at least click a no-cost sunroof delete in US(that just puts more money in BMW's pocket..win win).

The final order forms aren't yet available. The M235I was shipped with a sunroof for free. Many people on the forum did the no cost "sunroof delete". I wouldn't loose all hope yet.

Fingers crossed! I'm willing to let them keep their sunroof for free.

After 3 M cars with CF roofs, I'm ready to let some light in honestly!

On the plus side, you might be able to detect some benefit to the handling when swapping between sunroof and CF-roof cars...

They really need to release more pictures of the car with various options.
They just need to put up the configurator already !

Figured the CF roof or Sunroof would be free option like on the M3/4. That's lame

I really hope they're hearing our cries and considering a no cost sun roof delete. As noted before, they're already producing slick top cars, how hard is it really to divert some to the USA?
