Obviously fabulous news if true, but HEA cars have more or less always been on track this whole time, so initial non-custom demo cars may still land reasonably close to the original April/May timeline. I’ll celebrate when my allocation comes through with a reasonable production week that suggests delivery before the Summer as originally planned. G80/82 folks have already suffered through multiple good news head fakes like this. Based on the timelines of other recent product releases, we’re already several weeks late on getting allocations (should’ve been late November/early December).

I will take the HEA car from my dealer if it’s a decent build. I’m not convinced that I’ll see my custom-spec car before July/August.

I don't think they ever said production was delayed. Seemed to me those were just assumptions from prospective buyers which is what led to all the confusion.

You know what they say when people assume, it'll make an ass out of u and me.

I fully agree, I'd wait quite a while if it meant individual paint. If I could get any shade of purple I'd call it the purple people eater.

I don't think they are lying. I think those UK dealers are telling their clients things based on conjecture. It might be right. It might not be. As of now, there is no actual source of delayed production.

I think it's called lying. And I don't think customers should expect to be lied to by a luxury car dealer. Maybe the problem isn't with decent people, but scummy salesman getting hired by organizations that don't value ethics.

I'm referring to a Billy Madison moment here.

They would rather pump SUVs out of SC plant as fast as they can, which they have been doing all year. Light truck sales saved BMW's year.
I purchased a X5 45e. The car only cost 3k or so above the cost of the same X5 with same engine sans the 24kw battery. The battery alone probably cost BMW 3k more. The electric motors etc. etc. I suspect they are loosing several thousand for every 45e they sell vs. an regular X5.

I'm fearing a price rise for the upcoming X5 50e

Sadly it is the norm within the industry regardless of the marque. The bad outweigh the good.

Not like I was going to get one anyway considering current market conditions and interest rates

I get it. Venting moment.

Our recent purchase of a Telluride two weeks ago inflamed my sense of disgust for greediness with dealer personnel. They actually stared us in the face, like a 7.2% finance offer was generous for an extremely well qualified buyer.

Anyway, we got MSRP, which was 7k less than anyone else offered, and then I pulled out my checkbook to spoil any finance money they could receive after the insulting behavior. They ultimately cost themselves money and a returning customer. Kia is a shitshow right now for customer service. It's a shame I like that car so much and it's Dawning Red paint.

Omg I've been reading this thread for a few hours, a few responses in between cooking dinner and such and wow, and this is hilarious, I was so invested.

Seems that my UK dealer was straight with me. On the phone they said an April/May delivery when speaking to them in November. When placing the order face to face (in Nov), delivery changed to late Q3/early Q4. Shows Sept on my order. I'm 4th in line.

Being 4th in line in the UK makes sense for Sept delivery.

Did I miss the news here? BMW has been doing this on most models for over a year.
