@Esteban is way, way ahead of me so I'm going for fifteen; I already added #11, so here are four more to round out the fifteen:
12 - Vivaldi - Four Seasons 13 - Dick Gaughan - Song for Ireland 14 - Beach Boys - Surfin' Safari 15 - Shoukichi Kina - Hai Sai Oji-san (the original version)

Great selections, Esteban. I had a tough time making my mind up as to which Beach Boys number to place in my last post -- I changed it up. There are so many good ones!

Challenge accepted, Esteban. My choices tend to be a bit earlier than yours -- they mostly cluster around my high school years of 1962-65.
Some duplicates of earlier choices, too. 5) It's all Over Now 4) She's a Rainbow 3) Heart of Stone 2) The Last Time 1) Satisfaction

^ Good choices Llarry.
My favorite music by them is mostly late 60s/early 70s, as you can tell by my choices. It's all some of the best rock and roll ever made and can't go wrong no matter what you choose. Last edited by Esteban; 07-27-2023 at 03:22 PM.. |

This is really tough, and it mostly depends on my mood, but I always go back to these 5:
Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major It's just one of the most beautiful compositions ever. Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World I grew up in the 80's and this captures that feeling perfectly. One of the best summers of my childhood was set to this song. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody Just a timeless classic. Nirvana - Breed To me, it defines the 90's along with Smells Like Teen Spirit. This song doesn't get as much love, but I listen to this whenever I want to go back to that time in my life. Jay-Z & Kanye West - Ni**as In Paris One of the hardest beats in Hip-Hop imho. I bouce between this and Tribe Called Quest - Scenario, Beastie Boys - Intergalactic, Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M.

I knew this would happen, but I forgot two of my favorite pieces ever.
U2 - Pride (In The Name Of Love) I don't particularly like most of the music this band puts out, but there are 4 songs that are absolute masterpieces. This is the one I am choosing for this list. Trevor Jones/Dougie MacLean - Promentory/The Gael If you haven't seen this movie, skip reading this, skip watching the clip, and just watch it NOW. Spoilers: This is master filmmaking paired with one of the most effective movie scores of all time imho. The way this piece builds to Uncas' last stand, the subtle strings swell on Alice's fall, and the drum roll Chingachgook's charge.... One of the most memorable movie endings put to film.

Even though it is overplayed..., one of my all-time favorites; Nessun Dorma- Puccini I saw the complete opera at the Arena in Verona... the proper place for a massive opera. Very, very, memorable. Les Misérables - so many great parts, but this is a favorite: I Dreamed A Dream Scene Old Deuteronomy | Cats the Musical- saw that a few times loved the Hamburg, Germany play JC Superstar also has such great music; seen that one several times |

Made me think of this one.
Couple of extra tidbits. LSD ends before you reach the most northern part of Chicago and as the song mentions it starts at Hollywood on the northside. I actually live about a mile north of the end of LSD. I probably shouldn’t say this on the internet, but who cares. I live directly across the street from the Granville Red Line station. Having grown up in Lubbock and it being a college town I really like living so close to Loyola University. That curve of Hollywood at Kathy Osterman Beach is the beginning of the north end of Lake Shore Drive. It is a very beautiful drive. And this little tidbit about the violins - @Lawrence_Golan_Conductor - The violin solos near the end were improvised on the spot by my late father, Joseph Golan, who was the Principal Second Violinist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Here's another six from me; since I previously duplicated the Stone's Satisfaction, this takes me to 25:
-- Byrds - Bells of Rhymney -- AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long -- Beach Boys - Fun Fun Fun -- Who - The Kids Are Alright -- Beach Boys - Do It Again -- Song of the High Seas, composed by Richard Rogers as part of the musical soundtrack to the early 1950s TV documentary series Victory At Sea about the U.S. Navy in World War II

Another five from me.
Richie Valens - Donna (Richard Valenzuela was killed at age 17 in the same early 1959 plane crash that took Buddy Holly's life) Traveling Wilburys - Handle With Care Social Distortion - Bad Luck Making up for my lamentable (and inexcusable!) omission of the Traveling Wilburys until now, Traveling Wilburys - End of the Line AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill

As soon as I did these latest five, which takes me to 30, I realized the futility of the effort. What about Bob Dylan? Not on the list so far. What about another dozen or more Beatles numbers? What about all the great Beach Boys tunes? What about Otis Redding? Only one from the Who?
Esteban captured the frustration in his comment on the Beach Boys. It's really about the top few hundred or maybe a thousand songs. It's practically an endless task. I think I give up. But it was also fun putting that list of 30 together. As a number of posters have said when they mentioned "in no particular order" -- if somehow I lost the record of these 30 tunes, there's no way I could reconstruct it with all the same items.
