Glad you’re ok.
The insurance company will take salvage value as a factor in determining to total. Looks like there could be a good amount of value making them lean toward totaling

Sorry that you had the accident Justin, glad you are OK. I had a deer running alongside me at about 40km/h in a small BC town 3 days after I picked up our car, just glad that it veered away from us and not into the car.

Oh no!

I know it’s cliché, but it’s gotta be repeated, that all that matters is neither you, nor anyone else got hurt.

I’m so sorry to hear about the car. We know you’ll be back

Glad your ok, I also have had encounters with deer. Like when I decided to pass someone off the dotted lines and me and a deer decided to meutrally hit each other. If you have any hair from the deer stuck in your car put it in your glove compartment. Incase you ever hit a pole or something you take it out and put it back in. I got that advice of a LT of the NJ SP

wow sorry to see this! So glad you are alright. But a bummer about the car

just one of those situations you couldn’t really do anything about—by chance!

That sucks, I did have their full rear DTM diffusor and the fitment was terrible, the radiuses didn’t fit etc but they did fully refund my money after 3 weeks with shipping. At first why wanted me to pay for shipping it back.

Glad you're okay and the damage looks fixable from my novice perspective. If totaled, take those 50 anniversary emblems.

Deer are a big nuisance in PA...see them frequently in Bucks County. If ever come across or see, lay on the horn...better chance they turn and run, than flashing headlights, if at night, hence "deer in headlights".

Good luck! 👍

Really hate that this happened to you because whenever I watched your driving videos or pics, I had this uneasy feeling something like this could happen because of how crazy the deer population is there. Really glad you’re okay and sucks about the M2 but fingers crossed it’s not totaled and you get her back on the road soon!

PS: Deer suck ass!

Is it just me or would anyone else rather it be totaled regardless. I personally wouldn’t want a brand new car that had body work, repairs, etc. If you can come out of it in a positive financial postion having it totaled is the safe bet. No matter how good of a shop it will never be equal to factory.

Yep, it’s easy to say that but when you’re actually in the situation like I am now, and you start to factor in what it actually costs to replace something. Interest rates going from 0.99% to 6/7%, long wait times etc… eventually I got over it.

I’m going to get the car back good as new and will continue to enjoy it and not worry about every little stone chip and possibly tune it and do other things I wouldn’t have

Yes both paths have been running through my head since the accident. I love the car and I hope it isn't as bad as it seems and I can get it back relatively soon.

But the other path is also there. Will I always have a nagging feeling about it? Why not start fresh?

I don't know, but if they were to total it, what happens next for me depends on how much they write it down before paying out. Fortunately I put a substantial amount down so won't be hurt from an "upside down" loan perspective, but every dollar under what I paid is a dollar taken out of what I put down.

Yep, I had easily put $10k in to mods which was another factor. Can’t replace PPF, Ceramic etc and the fact insurance would definitely try lowball even if they did Write it off

Don’t think about it too much, insurance will decide and from my experience they are slow to write it off. The repair bill would need to be astronomical

Take "loss of use" payment if you don't take the rental.

Cars CAN often be repaired to factory spec, even panel fitments, but you need a good shop and you need to stay on top of it.

But yes, it really depends. Body panels and exhausts, no problem. If they attempt a frame straightening, huge problem. (But that's not much of a thing anymore.)

Timing matters. How long will you wait if you go through the alloc process again? Buying now puts you into 2024 model year.

BMW, as a rule, isn't going to put you first of line just because you wrecked a car. Dealers owe you nothing either, though they might help you out if you have a relationship.
