I guess this means the end of the road for the M4 too. Just four door M3s moving forward? Alongside an electric M6?

Thank god they’ll be axing the XM.
It’s just such a betrayal to any enthusiasts/ brand loyalists. Less performance than the X5M. Less practical than the X7s. Better MPG? Who the hell cares when they’re getting a proper M product! And the entire argument on saving money on gas goes out of the window when this car is just stupidly expansive for what it is. What’s going for it is really just the attention it gets. If that’s your thing then go for it while you still can!

It should have been in their blueprint like 5 years ago. A proper 6 series coupe not some weird ass gran turismo.
Bring back the glorious M6 with V8 sans the bullshit electrification. We need a car that drives, not save environment. Environment need not be saved even in our grandkid generations. Its all bullshit about going green to save the planet and save fuel. The crude oil quantity can last for another 1000 years or more. So cut the crap.

And what we used to generate all these charging ports? Its coal, fuel, and worse nuclear power. Which are all creating more harm than cars equipped with big V8s. The market will not be ready even in our grandchild era.

Don’t know why the revival of the 6 series is a surprise, BMW has been doing this for the last 3-4 decades. Hopefully this new 6 series will be as striking as the last one.

The coupe consolidation makes sense; it's pretty much what MB did as well. Ill miss the current 8; its is a very good looking vehicle in all body styles. |

MB had the same plan of having 1/2 of the whole production as EVs by 2030 but they have recently cancelled that plan as their CEO stated that the uncertainty of the battery supply and charging structure worldwide makes them forecast that the ICE production will further continue strongly into the future beyond 2030.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I think it's because they're just saying things and not really providing any additional context or information. Anyone can say "that's not happening" to any piece of news.

I am not sure the XM is a bad product, as much as it is the price that is messing about, but i guess that depends on the SUV buyers that is their market they are aiming for, maybe SUV drives don't need the XM and are happy with the X7 size or X5 size.
I think atm the prices on cars across the line are a bit heavy hitting not an EV thing only when i compare prices. For example the 520d touring in Sweden with M-Sport package nothing else starts at 57 960$ US thats not a "small" amount of money i think not BMW only but auto makers of the west needs to start sorting out their pricing strategy because spending that much on a car well it hurts the wallet even for a BMW, but again this is not BMW issue only i have seen this across brands how the prices has gone up first due to COVID, them COVID and semiconductor issues according to them, then again now we have an unstable world more unstable then it was previously. I think the pricing needs to be evaluated across the board of newer cars.

In addition this thing is a beast !! Faster than a lambo truck and commands a presence at the same level .. the other day I drove against a Porsche GT3RS and it could not keep up… they were blown away at this suvs speed and looks … I get tons of compliments on how beautiful the truck is … bmw got it right and u can pick one up at a great price with little miles… it’s worth it! It drives like my m3 comp. But as an SUV .. my wife loves it as it blows away anything like a Range Rover or Cadillac Escalad… there are no other reasonably priced options with this amount of performance and luxury… next step up is a Uris for an extra 150k and no where close to the amenities… thank you for your post!!! I fully agree … I think a lot ppl are more afraid of its price rather then how amazing the truck is … for those who can afford one you will not regret it!! Sorry but nothing compares its not a pig it’s a beast! |

I have sold BMWs for a living since 1976. That's right. Since "2002" was a model, not a year. To me, the XM is indicative of a larger problem with BMW and most manufacturers and a large part of the reason I just chose to retire rather than compromise my integrity by "stretching the truth" to sell the current BMW product line.
It won't mean much to the current BMW customer if I tell you I personally drive a 128i Msport 6-speed manual as my daily. To me it is just a newer version of my old 2002tii but with an extra 100-hp and working A/C. But at its very least, it still epitomizes the essence of what made BMW's reputation ever since the late '60s, and will forever live as the last of the BMWs with an in-line normally aspirated 6-cylinder engine, manual transmission, and the steering feedback that apparently only hydraulic boost can offer. It's the right size, if heavier than my 2002 by a bunch, but it is solidly made, and fun to drive. I have the iDrive version with just enough technology to allow me to download music, play my podcasts from phone through Bluetooth, make calls hands-free, and make any input to the car without needing to touch a screen while driving. And the world is beginning to show their appreciation for those essential BMW features from the past such that prices on the 128i increase every year. I can't tell you the number of times my customers who have owned BMWs for decades usually buying a new model every three years have asked why with all the dashboard technology in the BMW they can't make a "legacy" mode available at the push of a button that allows all the user-interface technology to emulate their previous BMWs. That's a good point and BMW has leaked some lip-service to that complaint and we may once again see the buttons iDrive was intended to replace make a comeback. To be fair, iDrive started with no buttons, went to a Menu button, then a Back button, and around 2010 added direct buttons for Nav, Radio, Phone, etc. That's about where they should have stopped. Maybe they'll learn or maybe not. Maybe they'll continue to produce cars the customers can't operate because their engineers feel compelled to contribute technology no one ever asked for or needs. If you love your XM, more power to you. To me it's as much of a BMW sacrilege as calling the next models the "Neue Klasse" which is offensive to those of us who were actually there when the 1500 sedan was first shown. These models are not a re-birth of BMW in a post-war climate. I'm not sure what they are . . . and I'm not sure BMW does, either! ![]() |

I'm a simple woman. I see a mention of 6 Series, I get excited.
I always felt like M8/8 Series was just 6 Series/M6 with a fresh coat of paint, I'm glad it's officially making a comeback. Not sad about the XM, though.

I see a lot of people talking about how large the XM is - or rather, how much larger it is compared to the X5.. the XM *is* an X5 with better materials. It’s a whopping 7” longer than the X5. You can literally take all the interior panels off the XM and transfer them to the X5 if you wanted to.
That being said, like others have said - if they included 7-series luxury, like the flip down screen and better rear seating, I think it would have made it more appealing. I also think it needs a slightly larger rear spoiler over the hatch and better performance. It was over priced for what you got.

This is really frustrating all that money wasted on the slow selling XM. Meanwhile we just ask to keep the Touring models which are already developped for others markets but this is too costly???!!!

Ya. I don't think BMW ever sold both at the same time. For example, the E24 ended production in 1989 and E31 was introduced in 1990.
