I believe Lotus still makes a manual but some don't consider them super cars. Add in the Aston Martin Valour I swear there was an upcoming 1000+ hp car that was manual but can't remember the name or it was in a fever dream. |

ZL1 1LE with 10 speed (and the 10 speed isn't even that great)
https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...lightning-lap/ Unless I'm in a GT3, modern manual transmissions lost alot of their appeal because they just aren't that good, while autos keep getting better I might be convinced by a proper dog box where you can aggressively slam through the gears, that isn't a typical synchro-based trans and certainly not the one in the M2 which is designed more for ease of use 2025 M2 ZF with more power and torque is a no brainer imo - should be mid 3s 0-60 and awesome for roll ons |

However my past 3 M cars have been DCT/ZF8, each one was tracked, and I enjoyed each one at the track using the paddles. Ironically, a "sports car" with a manual is more fun to drive to Costco to pick up a pallet of toilet paper and cheap Hot Dogs, but on the track where I'm actually driving at the limit and using the car as intended, the ZF8 is technically ideal. Emotionally, the manual is a blast at the track too, but that doesn't mean the auto isn't fun at all and there's about 100 other things that make driving spiritually enjoyable. If a stick shift the one and only thing that is preventing someone from enjoying a drive, I don't know how to help that person. That's a pretty constricting prerequisite considering how many great cars don't come with a manual anymore. I don't need to prove to myself I'm a "purist" by driving a manual, I grew up driving them for over 15 years. That's proof enough. While I do want one eventually before they go extinct, it will be in a "purist" vehicle like Porsche GT4, E46 M3, or something. For now, I want to have fun whether I'm in stop-and-go traffic letting adaptive cruise take over, in the canyons on the way to Newcomb's Ranch, or at Laguna Seca diving into the corkscrew.

My first car was auto. 96 Civic. Then every single car has been stick up until my last car which was an Audi S4 with DCT. I thought about ACC but I have it on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and I rarely use it even on long trips. When I do it's when there are long stretches of straight road. I feel like with the M2 I'm always going to be driving fast like I did with the S4. I would love to hit the track but I'm not going to do it competitively. But like you I don't need to prove anything to anyone after driving manual most of my life in NJ traffic. If I had a heavy commute I wouldn't have considered the manual lol. |
