FIA announces rule changes of the Formula 1 2025 season!
▶️ Rule no. 1️⃣: The changes includes that once the FIA’s official weather radars predict temperatures over 30.5C (or when called by the race director prior to an event, a ‘heat hazard’ will be declared.
This will require the teams to equip the drivers with their cooling systems, and the minimum weight will be raised to 5kg as a result for the full weekend to compensate for the increased mass of driver equipment.
▶️ Rule no. 2️⃣: Another rule is that the slot gaps for the rear wing between the two modes of the DRS have been changed, with the minimum gap reduced to cover off any attempts to replicate the ‘mini-DRS’ trick used by McLaren in 2024.
▶️ Rule no. 3️⃣: The minimum gap has shrunk from 10-15mm to 9.4-13mm and, with DRS open, the upper boundary remains at 85mm. The FIA has also tightened up the rules on the DRS modes, stating that there must only be two positions - and that ending the application of DRS must return the wing exactly as defined to the initial mode.

Click bait? I thought this thing was settled

Sergio Perez and Red Bull Racing in divorce: Here is where things stand
— A week after the Abu Dhabi GP concluded the 2024 season, Red Bull Racing has yet to announce Max Verstappen’s teammate for 2025. While no official statement has been made, it is widely believed that Sergio Perez will not return to the team next season.
— Sources suggest Perez was informed by Christian Horner and Helmut Marko after the Abu Dhabi GP that his seat was no longer secure. However, negotiations over the terms of his contract termination are delaying an announcement.
— The primary sticking point is financial.
“Red Bull want to give the Mexican as little as possible, while Perez wants to make the most of it.”
— Perez is not only seeking his full salary, reportedly around $14 million annually, but also compensation for lost sponsor income due to his potential exit from F1. Mexican sponsors, who pay Perez generously because of his F1 presence, are unlikely to continue such payments if he is no longer competing.
— The total amount involved could reach tens of millions, making the negotiations crucial for Perez, especially in maintaining his image in Mexico.
“It would kill his image among the proud Mexicans if it were to leak that Perez not only loses his place at Red Bull, but was also relieved of his duties with ‘pennies’.”
— Perez’s departure also affects Racing Bulls’ line-up. Liam Lawson is reportedly the main candidate to replace him at Red Bull, though Honda is pushing for Yuki Tsunoda. Isack Hadjar is expected to join F1, likely filling a Racing Bulls seat if Lawson or Tsunoda is promoted.

Until an announcement of some sort is made then I'm keeping with Checo and Max on the team in '25.

Yeah that Patron tequila is a mega seller together with the 'milliardi' of all the other things, Lawson is just a minnow money wise compared with Serge.

the true shame is motorsports "fans" unnecessarily dragging someone through the mud.

Don't forget.
2020 - 3rd
2021 - 4th
2022 - 3rd
2023 - 2nd

what a shame!

And in 2024 ?

In 2024 he was invisible , somewhere in a wall , crashed or knocked out in QF1 (!)
The KitKat man crashed a big $5Million hole in the 2024 Red Bull budget cap...

If that isn't enough, that's why the Red Bull Team lost the 2024 WCC .
And losing the 2024 WCC is a loss of $50 Million for the Red Bull Team.

"Unnecessarily" dragging someone through the mud ?

An "Unnecessary" thing is his 2025 KitKat seat

He had a bad latter 2/3 of the season. For sure. First 1/3 looked good, then they started going the wrong direction with the car, which the team has fully admitted. They really gave him a crap car that he couldn't drive. You can blame it on the driver, but it's really up to the constructor to give the best car to their drivers, and with Checo, they clearly didn't. Every race there were visible differences between the two cars because they just couldn't get it right. RB is partially responsible for Checo's poor performance.

Half of the car damage came from a full car replacement thanks to KMag. That really wasn't Checo's fault.

Last I saw, 1st place got $140M, 3rd place got $122M, so it's only an $18M differential (12% loss). For reference, the budget cap is $135M, so they need a mere 13M to make up the difference between the prize money and the budget for next season... Checo's sponsors more than make up that differential... so the team, and RB as a company, loses nothing.

The team gains a lot of aero testing time, which is a substantial benefit for the 2026 car, which is surely what most of the aero time in 2025 will be used for. I think there is zero frustration for the constructors drop. Playing chess vs checkers.

edit: Let's also not forget the car reliability issues he faced... failed clutch... then he wasn't doing terribly in Abu Dhabi, made it back to Q3, but the car had mechanical issues in the race.

Unfortunately Checo has a strong case for remaining and not only because of the sponsor force, the main one being the snaky car he had and as stated people like KMag perfidiously hitting Checo from behind at Monaco knowing full well what the outcome would be.

Yeah , just let the Mexican sun shine in the thunderstorm...

You seem to forget that +/- 800 people at the Red Bull F1 factory lost all their 2024 bonuses by the KitKat man (!)
In 2010 they got a $10K bonus for the 2010 WCC (!) Source => https://www.gptoday.net/nl/nieuws/f1...n-bonussen-uit

The Mexican is very well aware of that , that's why he tried to buy the people at the factory with 2000 bottles of Mexican Patron tequila ...
Mexican Patron tequila which he got from his Mexican sponsor . That's so damn cheap ...

I agree , the RB20 got a fundamental design flaw from day 1 . A.Newey knew that , and the cars setup was a mess throughout the entire 2024 season...
More than once , the KitKat man got a copy&paste from MAX's car and setup.
But he has the adaption skills from a 5 YO toddler (!)

The KitKat clutch failed ?
Negative ...
The KitKat clutch didn't failed (!)
He pushed it too hard , but in the wrong strat.mode , then overheated his clutch and spun a 360 and burned his clutch completely..
It was his own stupid mistake ...
If you burn your ass you have to sit on the blisters (!)

KitKat won't be able to drive the 2025 RB21 car either , because he's an idiot (!)

Can we honestly think there is a woman that could master the ins and outs of a current F1 car, I can only think of one in that of the amazing Jamie Chadwick but even she is a universe away from even being considered for F1. She's signed up this year for the LMP2 europe series, this of course includes the LeMans 24 hour endurance race.

Horner should put MAX's mom (Sophie Kumpen) in the KitKat seat .

She would be faster than the KitKat man

Probably for sure, but the problem is willing sponsors and money.

Even your reveled motorsports hero, Max, has come to Checo's defense and specifically said "he's not an idiot".

I heard about the bonus issue. Sure, that's problematic for them, but I'll again repeat that I think this was mostly a car issue, not a complete lack of skill issue. If the builders gave him a better car, they'd have gotten a better bonus. They earned it in 22 and 23, but the car wasn't as good this year...

Max is a spectacular driver and was able to work around the issues with the car. Checo wasn't, so they were experimenting with different things to get his car to work better, but never really figured it out.
