Apparently, winning in F1 means that customers are chosen for halo cars, especially those who have no association in building the F1 car. Makes perfect sense to me.

The original point being argued was that Ferrari and Lexus chose their customers for their halo cars. Yet you brought in the argument about racing heritage. That has nothing to do with the customer selection process. If you are talking about a customer deciding whether to buy or not that is a different story. The car isn't even in its final production stages yet.

I think people are missing the point. If you had 400k to buy a car you'd be an idiot to buy this car, but if you have 50 million sitting in the bank 400k is nothing. Especially to own a car you know you won't be seeing on the road. People buy 10million dollar diamonds just to say they have them. Does anyone really think Veyron owners bought the car because of the performance?? Its about being in an exclusive club. I'm willing to bet not a single owner financed a Veyron. When you have money EXTREME performance can be bought and built into almost any car, but aesthetically it looks like a car you see around town. You pay extra for the exclusivity not the performance. |

Sorry for joining the party late. For 400k, I would take a Merc SLS AMG aka Gullwing and F458 Italia. This is coming from a person who doesn't hate Lexus

It does get juicy.. The Audi R8 V10 really did some work against this LFA on "Battle of the Supercars".. Give me the R8 & the extra cash saved to by a Ferrari or Lambo.. That would be 3 cars for the price of the holloween pumpkin face LFA.

Lol... Whoever started this thread obviously doesn't know how the world works. It doesn't matter if you're 20, 40, or 60... Grow up "kid." Your bewilderment only serves to prove your naivety. When someone has a few billion Dollars, $400k is merely four cents to the average Joe.
Buying an LFA is the exact reason why someone would buy a BMW. It's got something nice going for it. An Evo or STi can outperform most BMWs for less. Let's toss away racing pedigree and number aside. The LFA is merely a feel good purchase, in the sense that Lexus will feel good putting it in the hands of publicly exposed people. I don't understand this forum. You have people who use the dealerships exclusively for their aftermarket needs without a hiccup about the price but yet, they can't fathom an overpriced car? Hmmm....
