It's true, I cringe at some of the lease deals people are posting in the US.

Of course I feel better seeing how much people pay for bimmers in some other countries (i.e. China, Australia, etc..).

They bought my car for me... but I'll tell you now... I never take it for granted.. its been a good month and a half and every Wednesday morning i wake up to give it a wash(I plan to keep this habit up)... Don't take me as a snobbish pr*ck or something. I love BMW's because I'm an enthusiast.

+1. who cares?! If you were blessed with parents who could afford to purchase one for you, then congrats, because for all that were not, you know you are thriving to make money in order to provide more for your future child.

For me im 20 and have had a E90 325 and just traded in for a E90 335, and i had to make a choice, either go away to college and spend 8k a year on room and board, or stay close to home and commute and my dad would split half with me on a car if i kept a GPA of 3.0. I sacrified going away to school to stay living at home and drive a 335. I dont regret it at all.

(Sorry for the life story, never really get to talk about it with anyone)
I didn't vote, because I don't own a BMW yet.

hmm..
I'm 18, I will be 19 Nov. 5th and currently drive a 1994 Chevy Silverado extended cab. (Brown, 214,000 or so miles on it.)
The left door wont open from the outside, none of the speakers work, my engine feels like it isn't getting all of its power to the wheels, and it is a gas guzzler. It was my moms old truck that she gave to me for making good grades in school. The only reason I can figure that all of the stuff is breaking on it, is its age.. I take good care of it, and havent been in a wreck in the 2 1/2 yrs ive been driving.
I plan on leaving it like it is until I buy myself a new car, to remind me how much it sucks to not have any money.

My dad first got me into trading stocks when I was 13. I made one trade, and over 3 days made close to 600$. I later found out that he only gave me 200$ of it and paid for the other 100$ of the bike that I wanted. (I guess because he didn't want me to get too cocky about trading, and think that I didn't need school??? Or that he thought that someone of that age didn't need that much money. Either way, I'm glad that he didn't give me all of it.) I haven't been trading since, because the only thing I wanted at the time was the Diamondback bike which I bought.. Another factor was that my dad stopped trading as well because he started working longer hours out at the plant.

My dad retired a month or two before I graduated, and gave me $6,000 as a graduation gift.. (Came out of nowhere, because I was hardly ever given/bought anything growing up.. although my younger brother had no problem asking for money, and other things.)
I had previously traded through his account, but now he has set me up my own and put $16,000 into it, which I agreed to put $4,000 into, to make it an even 20.

My dad has already taught me pretty much everything he knows about trading in the past, and I go to a seminar on trading every now and then with him.
I plan to start trading again, and making $60-70k on top of the $20k already in my account, before the M3 Sedan comes out next fall.
The reason I am doing so, is because I will be living at home for the next 3 years while I am attending college. That will give me 2 years to build up enough for my own house before I move out. (+why wouldn't I want to buy a m3 now, when i'm supposed to be having tons of fun at this age in life.)

I have been a big fan of the M3 since I was around 12 or 13, and it would only be right that it is the first car I buy.

I also plan to never lease, or buy things on credit. For some reason it just doesn't seem safe/smart to me, and I don't want to portray some amount of worth that I am not.

(I'm not sure if you consider trading stocks as working, but that is how I plan on coming up with the money for my M3. I also cant work full time, because I am going to college full time at the moment.)

My future goals include, but aren't limited to owning my own business and being much more financially independent...
Eff the jobs I've had..
I worked at Walmart when I was 16 pushing carts in the summer for about 3 months, then was fired because they were racist. (Seriously, the only reason I could figure out why I was fired was because they didnt like that I was white. I was one of their hardest workers.)
Then worked at 'Rain for Rent' during this summer for 2 1/2 months before I had to go to school. I was outside scraping paint off tanks, re-painting them, repairing pretty much everything on a tank out in the heat all day for 8 hours.. and then having boogers that were blue for a day or two because of the spray paint. (Their masks sucked)

I'm glad I had these jobs though, because it has made me want a better education, and showed me how much it sucks to be 30 and doing the stuff that I was doing. Also sucked having to work for what they tell you, you will be making. (Found out on my last day that all of my peers had been making 13-14, when I was making 8, and doing just as much if not more work than they were.)

My dad has told me several times that I am a hard worker, and I think that I am as well. I have no problem doing manual labor if it is needed, but I found out early on in life that it just isn't the line of work for me.

Something I always keep in mind that my dad told me..
"You should learn to make money work for you, instead of you having to work for money."

A lot of the time, people are just jealous of the car that you have. They are just looking for an excuse for you having that car, other than the fact that you worked for it.

I haven't even thought about having kids/their financial needs yet. I don't plan on having kids until 28-30, unless of course things go well for me.

32, three cars, two nice houses, wife, baby boy, well funded retirement. Fortunately, I live in Cincinnati where housing is cheap, and I have renters in one house. My wife works too, so that helps a bit.

My parents gave me an education and a lot of encouragement. Other than that, we earn our own money.

Im 21, I'm a workaholic, and a student. I save a lot of money when younger to work on my WRX... Sold it recently, saved a lot, plus I sold my soul to uncle sam. So it all adds up to me affording my BMW.

with a steady job, and a good fico score, i got a loan for $50K from my bank at a good interest rate to get my bimmer. i didn't even have money in the bank, no assets, nothing. plus i had $3K in debt on a mastercard, haha.

so with a negative balance to my name, i'm getting a bimmer!~ of course everybody thinks i'm insane. which i am.

i would have preferred a $100K M3, but oh well.

I'm amazed at how many people buy stuff on credit/get loans like this every day.. So many people are living beyond their means, and having to make payments on things. I just don't see why anyone would want to do this.

I don't see why you think that someone spending their own cash on a BMW, and still living with their parents means that they themselves didn't pay for it.

I'm guessing that you are trying to say that they should have bought a house first?? I plan on living at home for as long as I can, because it is the smart thing to do.

Leased my E90 328i at age 20 (earlier this year) after a financial disaster with my previous CPO 2003 A4 1.8t Quattro. Granted I do still live at home, rent free, but I do make enough to support my living expenses, Im just giving myself some time to save up while I'm finishing college.

I have $20,000 in my account to trade stocks with. I plan on making $60-70k on top of the 20, so I can buy myself a M3 Sedan when they come out next fall. That is how I plan on coming up with the money to buy my first BMW.

Financing is a great thing...even if a teenager is making 15 bucks an hour, he/she can afford to finance a $45,000 car if they have good credit...

I don't see why you think that someone spending their own cash on a BMW, and still living with their parents means that they themselves didn't pay for it.

I'm guessing that you are trying to say that they should have bought a house first?? I plan on living at home for as long as I can, because it is the smart thing to do.

my point is just that if you have the cash to buy yourself a BMW, why in the heck are you living with your parents? That's not smart, building equity in a home or investing the money is smart. Not flaming, to each their own, just makes me curious the rationale people use.
