I've heard other people complain they have to put down a deposit to get a test drive at a ferrari dealer. I think there are many other factors involved.

My uncle used to work at a BMW dealer. He'd tell them that he'll give them a price they can't find here or anywhere else. They'd never catch so they would go from dealer to dealer to waste there time instead of wasting his.

first was a lease and I would say not completely but a little. 2nd I felt it was a fair deal, paid close to invoice.
just sad to know you can never get a very good deal. not that I'm saying dealers should ever take a loss but they intentionally make it very difficult to do well and very easy to rip people off that dont know any better.

I was a finance manager at a DFW Toyota dealer for a year back in '05. Loooong hours but you can make some serious money selling air. Everything the OP has stated is fact.
Indians are the worst to deal with. Completly irrational and look at you like you're crazy when you dont want to take a loss on a deal. |

I am the Internet Director at a Ford, Lincoln, Mazda dealership and can attest to this being absolutely true. There is no UP system here so it is whoever gets to the customer first. Occasionally causes some bickering.

The dealership makes money off people who finance right? So why is it that I have found it much easier to negotiate when paying for the whole car right then and there?
Instant payment still preferred to earning more through financing? |

Also would be interested in the best way to go about getting hired at a dealership? Is there anything good to know when first starting? Better to work in a larger city? Also wouldnt it be a huge benefit to be part of forums like these and give the best deals possible?

Making money on the loans is getting harder and harder though, in years past when you could "buy" the loan for say 12% and "sell" it the customer for 18% you could make some serious money. Every quarter I would get a check from one of the finance companies I would send my customers to, It would show their balance, interest paid and my share of the pie. |

I have a legitimate question. Why is it that when you are leasing a lower end car (Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan) there is never a way to negotiate the purchase price of the car? There is even no dealing on the payments if that's what was advertised. If I go to lease a BMW; I can easily get 4-5K knocked off the sticker price of the car and negotiate payments... in a Honda/Toyota dealership they won't even talk to you about that.

I've seen alot of dealers moving to the "one simple price" model which applies both manufacturer and dealer discounts up front to give the illusion of no haggle pricing, even on premium brands. |

not sure where you go, but at my dealership, people have successfully gotten 2-3K off the MSRP...leasing is same as buying a car, u negotiate on the price of the car and then lease, toyotas resell very well so the residual is good for leasing, you pay lower monthly payments

I just want to know why Indians are always pissed at the world. Never smile, shitty attitude for no reason, and generally gives off this snobby sense of worthiness that just feels like a defense mechanism. Im mainly talking about the ones at gas stations and stuff. Every time I deal with one, I feel like I just kicked his dog or some shit afterwards.
Is it just a culture thing or it's because they are looked down upon by other Asian races? just always wondered
