Didn't seem that crowded with cars when I was there 10 years ago exploring inner LA.

We had a few hours of light/moderate rain after that, and my gauge finally broke 1.00" at 7:15 PM. The rain shield is all to our west (inland) now, and we are on the back edge about to move back into the dry slot as the storm's remnants mozy west (towards NY) over CT.

I just checked the security cameras around the house. The basement is 100% dry, and there's no puddles in the low spots of the back yard. In other words, a whole lot of nothing-burger.....
It's been raining for 36 hours. This morning was a white knuckle ride to work between the roads being flooded and of course, as soon as I left the sky opened up. It was that torrential downpour where your wipers don't go fast enough and you can't even see the lines on the highway.

I woke up this morning to discover that Tropical Depression Henri's center of circulation had migrated so far westward inland that it was actually over us!

Calm wind, 29.70 inHG barometer, light drizzle. Our storm total rain so far was only 2.11" because of the way the storm dry-slot pinwheeled around us, which is way less than the 8+ inches that NJ, Lawn Guyland, and CT saw in many flooded areas.....

I never lived in LA but I lived in Orange County even though my office was in LA area (not downtown thankfully). Night and day.

We are getting rain today and 9 C for temperature. The rain is welcome but it could be a little warmer.

Winter is coming.
This morning I woke up at the usual 0530. It was DARK, had to turn on the light next to the bed. Then I looked at the thermometer that is outside. 58 I SHOULD have put my parka on, but can't remember where I stored it.

We had dew on the outside of several of our double-pane windows this morning. Gotta love it when our AC unit can make the inside air colder than the humid outside air's dew point.....

Ida, please be kind. Stocking up on horse food and horse first aid supplies today.

We're on the east side of the storm as of right now. If she shifts east, we'll take the direct hit.

I'm having Katrina flash backs. Everyone in the cone, stay safe.

Wife is already up in Alabama after dropping son off at college. I am locking down the house and will decide about evacuating later today or tomorrow morning. We have a hotel room for a couple days up in Auburn where my oldest is in school but if it looks like we will be out of the city for a while we will go our second home in Greenville SC.

How about you?

Just sent my daughter up to Washington Parish to stay with my mom. I'm staying behind for a bit to take care of things here. Sometime on Sunday, before the storm rolls in, I'll head over to the ranch to ensure the horses are okay and stay with them throughout the storm.

That's the plan as of now, of course subject to change. So much for my birthday brunch this weekend.

Well, in case we don't hear from you due to power failures, I'm sending you a big birthday hug in advance.
