I'm guessing this will be the case with most of the ADM dealers including mine. Our list is incredibly short. After the first few people pass on a 10k ADM and we have zero people on the list we will obviously default to MSRP. I believe that's the way it should be.

Really depends on the dealership. How many allocations per release will they get, will they get allocations per each release. As far as you say guaranteed, guaranteed to receive an allocation by when?

My dealership's thought is that anyone out of the top 5 on their list will not be getting a delivery in 2023.

New member here, inquired about the waitlist at a certain ny dealership today and was told I’d be 7 or 8 on the list but he added that they received 3 allocations 3 days ago. Figured I’d share.

Not true. I pulled up the allocations for the entire country earlier today and there isn’t a single dealership with more than one modifiable.

So what’s the dealers angle telling me they did? To get me to put money down thinking they’re the dealership to go with? I guess that might be a weird tactic, just seems like a waste of time to me. Anyway, how do you pull up allocations for the entire country?

That concerns me. It’s middle of February, at this point I don’t think I’ll be getting an allocation this year if I switch to another dealership.

Sorry I was mistaken, there’s a CA dealer that received two modifiables. I work at a dealer.

I would just look for an HEA unit from now on. Honestly a lot of stores do MSRP only and not every single M2 off the line will be custom ordered until the end of production.

Edit: Also, there's not many options on this car as far as paint and interior - so "custom" is a very relative term.

I have not personally heard of this but it wouldn't surprise me if there aren't dealers bumping people to the highest ADM bidder. That's the only reason I can think that a dealer would tell someone 30k markup for an M2. I just don't see many reasonable people going along with that unless they are late to the game and want to cut to the front.

'I want it and want it now' I would assume is the mentality of most people who happily pay aggressive adms.

That's a value proposition with yourself more than anything.

For me, I liked the car enough, and the way I figured is at #3 at my dealer, I could wait until August to get my car, or I could get it in April with a couple relatively minor spec differences (HEA unit). The trade-off was a no-brainer: I could drive the car for four months using that time to understand precisely which mods would mean the most to me, and get preliminary info to all the users on this forum as a dedicated enthusiast (weight measurements, user experiences, etc.).

I'm pretty certain all dealers have a wait list at least a year long by now. So, at this point you'll have to pay ADM, settle for an HEA/pre-built, or lightly used if you want to own an M2 by '24, or maybe '25 if you can believe it.

There are still so many unknowns. The first being how many G87s does BMW intend to produce annually? They have a number! What is allocation going to be like? Keep in mind we still really have no idea with only eight days remaining in February. Are U.S. Centers going to only receive one or two units every few months or are we going to see G87 allocations monthly? The G87 Market Launch is fast approaching, Mid-April. 49-53 days to go!
