Well it turns out that I've still got it. There were 4 bands playing but I didn't bother heading into the pit for the first band. I wanted a couple doses of liquid courage first... dark rum to the rescue. After getting my courage level properly taken care of I made my way in to the pit during the first break. I only came out of the pit for more drinks and a couple of bathroom breaks for the rest of the show. I had a blast and only got a couple of bruises and one scratch on my forearms. My knee held up fine although I did tighten the brace pretty tight. I got a lot of double-takes at first. It's amazing the respect white hair gets you in the pit.

I even had one guy stop me in the airport as I was walking to baggage claim after landing in Halifax when I got home. He asked if he had seen me at the show. We chatted for a few minutes and then he wanted a selfie with me like I was some kind of celebrity or something.

Maybe at first but if that was the case they weren't long getting past that fear. I had one twenty-something young man comment that "you are very strong". I just grinned and said "Old man power".

I had the TI SR 10 that I bought for around the same price in 1973 or so. I was taking stat classes and the square root key was amazing to me. It was very expensive at that time but worth it to me. It's a great example of just how far technology has advanced since that time.

While I don't feel that old yet now in my 30s, this makes me feel old: I actually prefer this Casio from early 2000s to the Samsung calculator app that I have on my phone, because I've had this since elementary school and the key layout has really stuck in my memory.

Not going that far as carrying it around with me, but I always have this on my desk for the occasional need of a calculator
