I got the combo deal on the Fuji 100-400 plus the 1.4 thrown in for free. Waxing Crescent moon at 560mm (840mm full frame equivalent). Very low illumination so I had to drop the shutter speed and kick up the ISO more than I usually do with moon shots. 1/500 f8 ISO 800. I'm sure I'll get better on a bigger moon higher in the sky

You're pretty close to my starting formula for the moon. I call it 8-8-8, for ISO 800, f/8 and 1/800-sec. I take a shot, chimp and adjust from there.

Last weekend my wife and I did some tasting at St. George Spirits at the old NAS on the north end of Alameda Island. Afterwards, couldn't resist driving a few blocks away to admire some Navel hardware. Photo of the Keystone State and Grand Canyon State with the late afternoon sun coming in.

Mark's shot of Mt. Hood the other day got me in nostalgia mode, looking through some of my old shots from my Air Force days. This was taken from a C-130 sometime in 86 or 87. Notice the smoke sill rising out of St. Helens. Rainier is in the background. Scanned from an old print. Wish I still had the negatives.

I was sitting on my patio last night contemplating going to bed around 11:00PM when I saw something move in the shadows on the walkway to the garage.
I can't believe I used to pick these things up as a kid. The thought of grabbing it now gives me the willies. Last edited by Zing; 07-07-2017 at 07:06 AM.. Reason: Because PhotoBucket sucks! |

I ususally go to LA around the 4th, and this year was no exception. I took the scenic route via 101 versus blasting down I-5, as I am usually not in any hurry. Lunch at Paso Robles means I get to enjoy the beautiful view from Calcareous as I picnic with a nice glass of wine, this year, a Rosé. I need to spend more time down this way as it has a lot to offer.
