I've never seen anything specific from BMWNA about rewarding "loyalty" for long time owners/buyers that are cash purchasers (have seen they offer cheaper financing to previous owners is all). I'm 48 years into my BMW experience, multiple new car purchases, and a multiple M car owner, etc.

$4k is absurd! $1k is the average. The majority of U.S. BMW Centers should be stipulating that it is fully refundable since MSRP is unknown.

I still remember the OG M2 pre order thread from nearly 7 years ago now. Everyone seeing exact same responses from dealers now that we did before. Which is basically anything goes style from zero deposit to thousands. Some tips we learned from the OG M2 process:
1. Find a dealer that requires the smallest deposit possible for MSRP 2. Get everything in writing. Although sometimes this doesn't mean much as there will be little transparency. They'll also very much ignore your MSRP contract if they have people willing to pay way over MSRP. By the time your case makes it in front of a judge they'll have gone through all the mark up buyers anyway. and probably the most important one: 3. If you live on the east coast absolutely do performance center delivery. Not only does this open up your potential dealer list to pretty much ANY dealer in the country, but its an absolute blast to do. |

I'm just conditioned to not pay even close to MSRP for a car. Screw this process of being price gouged for a deposit only to get gouged again when the car arrives.
Ima wait it out or just get a different brand of car.

As of late August 2018, it appeared that the 3rd allocation to this dealer was going to be way late in 2018 or even early 2019, and I lucked into the exact car we wanted at another dealer who had received two extra M2Cs. I contacted them immediately after seeing that in this forum, worked with their after hours online contact and was offered an $1100 discount even. I flew there to buy it in Sept 2018. I received my $1k deposit back (it was done on a credit card).

It will be highly interesting to see how various ADMs and MSRP at launch plays out as the U.S. economy will more than likely be in a recession at the first of 2023. It is pretty much unavoidable at this point.

My dealership who never charges ADM, has 6 people on the list with a 1500 refundable deposit so far. The M2, however, will be subject to a market adjustment still to be determined.

One stealership wanted 5K non-refundable, ha! My friend went with the dealership with no deposit, msrp sale, everything in writing. He learned to get the actual sale price in writing because his aunt had a purchase (not a M2 of any year) agreement in writing, but not the actual out the door sale price, and the stealership added 5K ADM while she was in the finance office after a 6 month wait and a 3 hour drive.

My dealer wants me to put down a 1500 non refundable deposit now, so I told them no thanks…
Any dealer reps here who want my business? Looking to pay no more than MSRP and id only do a refundable deposit. I'm doing PCD so I'm open to anyone across the country. |

And carbon fiber roof versus steel roof or sunroof. We probably will not get the option of all three though.
