My kitty cats! Elenor the older one we got as a gift 3 years ago. Then after a year we noticed that she was very lonely so we went to a shelter and brought home Max (his the one with the white vest and paws) and yes they sleep on a dog bed in front of the fire

Are you asking me about the Border Collie? PM me for more details so we don't shit all over this thread, but in summary - the BC is known as being one of, if not the, smartest dog on earth. They have a very keen intellect and require substantial stimulation to keep from getting bored. Not just active ball throwing and running, but things that stimulate the brain like herding trials or agility competition or the like. If they don't have mental stimulus, then the get bored and when they get bored they get into things and cause issues. This is the number one reason they end up going up for adoption. My dad had three of them over a course of about 20 years and I spent many days with him traveling around the South East for sheep herding and agility competitions. I believe one of his dogs, Rio Grande, was ranked in the top 10 nationally for agility competitions and placed 3rd at nationals.

We've had her for about two weeks, she is almost 5 months old and is a great girl. Just needs to learn she can't eat the cats and some other things.

We put our 15 year old GS/BC mix down last February. The obvious least fun part of pet ownership. She was an awesome dog.

When we were bringing her to the veterinarian to put her down, I cut up some leftover steak for my daughter to feed her on the way down. One last happy thing etc, anyway, halfway there I just start bawling my eyes out. It really caught me off guard and my daughter. I think I freaked her out because she had never really seen me really cry until then. Anyway, the little bastards (whatever they are) really worm their way into your heart. Even if the last couple of years of caring for an older dog is very challenging. |

Sorry for your loss. We had to put down a Lab mix 4 years ago due to a brain tumor. We were finally ready for another dog. I agree, it's the least fun part...

ShopVac - not a cat guy. And of course, had the cat that lived to be almost 21. Told Mrs ShopVac, if she buys another cat, I'm getting a Porsche. She brings it up, I just say 911.

Had one of my cats pass away about 5 years ago. Her name was Lily and when she did pass I was actually in the middle of getting my tattoo sleeve work done. My kids thought I was crazy but I took a black sharpie and I colored her paw and pressed it onto a piece of paper. took it to my artist and asked him to find a spot on my arm and here's how it turned out
