It’s just art imitating life - as we continue to collectively deform ourselves from what is pure, true and beautiful.

That’s because black hides the ugliness.

A 4 series in black with a black grill doesn’t look terrible. A white 4 with the chrome grill looks like a butterfly is coming for you.

Right now the only BMWs I can stand to look at is the 5 and X5. I liked the X7 until the split headlight crap.

They need to fire Adrian Van Hooydonk. Admittedly, BMW needed to spice things up from the E36/39/38 era where all of the cars looked the same but in varying lengths. He did spice things up.

But in the 2000’s, the E65 7 series had the infamous Bangle Butt, named after Chris Bangle, the design director at the time. That car was and still is ugly. But what most didn’t know or care to know it is was the current BMW design director…VanHooyDonk that created the Bangle Butt. It was VanHooyDonk that designed most of the increasingly ugly cars since the mid 2000’s.

In fact do you know who designed the E46 which everyone loves? Chris Bangle

While I agree this is hideous, BMW has a long tradition of making cars hideous with their performance parts - look at the E46 aero kit, for example:

He also did a phenomenal job on the e85 Z4. Flame surfacing works really well on that car. Ditto the E90, especially the LCI.

You’ll notice design cohesiveness even in the E65. The same cannot be said for the new 4 series or new 7 series.

Yup looks like a bad wrap job to me, could be the lighting and quality of the pics.

I think monotone (black, white, grey) colors work better with frozen paint . But that's just me

Regular portimao would have been absolutely killer. BMW just wanted to make it a bit more special for the M2 and went this route. To the detriment of us all

Not crazy about it but I don’t mind it and I’m 64. I do not care for those wheel well wings at all tho. Or whatever is tacked onto the front bumper corners. Overall I like the car tho and I’m not a “boy racer” by any means. I think the M2 is a pretty good value performance wise too. Currently in a 2018 M3 CS. When I trade it in for a new M2? NO!

Mostly agree. At least the grill looks pretty good. Perhaps the current design approval dept is full of young people now. Or at least the M2 dept is. Wondering what the average age of this forum is. I’m certain I’m at the upper end at 64. When it comes to cars tho I act half that haha.

It looks like a BMW giving birth to a Ferrari Testarossa... Young kids googling Testarossa...
Seen a black G87 yesterday and it still has that, "Midget M4" look like the previous generation. I mean, I'd take it over a type R or a Subbie any day though, or even a G82...
Can we PLEASE move on from the huge duck bill stuck on spoilers though. Jeez.
It looks so damn cheap.
